Setting up dirt bike for Enduro

Hello, I have a 1986 kx125 its all rebuilt, new piston, plated cylinder, all the good stuff. But I want to race in the NETRA jr. Enduro series so I need to get my bike set up for the trails, I have never raised before and I'm really excited to get my bike set up. Does any one know what parts I need to get? I understand I need to change the sprockets ratios to get more power on the bottom end and need a skid plate, And maybe softening the suspension? Everything is stock except I put a turbine core II silencer one the bike because it was SO DANG LOUD stock. The first race is in a little over a month at the roosting rhody in W. Kingstown so I want to get this going. Thanks for all your help!

The 125 are the only Mx bikes I feel are ready to go racing enduro/hair scrambels in stock form, I would say go for it. I dont bother with skid plates/ pipe guards or any of that stuff unless im racing up north (rocky stuff) just added weight and im not bad about hitting stuff.

Wrap around hand guards (Cycra probend) and a skidplate. You got an old bike so are probably already doing it on a budget, just go race and have fun. You could spend a fortune bolting stuff onto it, keep it simple and cheep.

soften up the compression and harden the rebound, but only by a few clicks. The softer suspension will help loads in the woods. Other than that, full wrap hand guards and a skid plate

Go to 2 1/2 weight fork oil, max oil level in the forks if you are less than 160lbs.  5wt if more than 160lbs.  Set your rider sag on rear at 112-115mm . That bike had really long travel in rear. 340mm.   Adjust your compression damping till you are bottoming softly on the big hits then go in one more click.  That model was weak on bottom end so going down one on countershaft will help in the woods.  Be sure to use an Oring or Xring chain. You will also need a Spark Arrestor silencer.  Trim your bars down to about 29.5" to 30" then add Bark Busters.

Bigger gas tank if you are doing longer races
Heavier fly wheel will make it harder to stall
Hand guards

Thank you guys so much Thumper Talk is awesome, I'm just going to go race and have some fun and yes I am already on a bugget haha, and I need money for gear and even the entry fee, but in the future I'll through some bark busters and a skid plate. Thanks for all your help! and I will soften  the compression and harden the rebound, the bike has a lot of travel which is great! Thanks for all your help!
