I can get it for a selling price of $6000 without tax etc? Is that a good deal or should I try and get it down further.

If your upset about the price Rekless paid, wait in 6 months when your bike is worth about $5000. Sorry but thats the truth. If you wait a few more months, you'll see even lower prices here on the board.

sounds like rekless didn't get such a great deal after all. I really didn't either because i traded in my 03 after owning it for only 3 weeks
(you probably got my 03).

Go to cycletrader.com, search for the wr450. You will find the high volume dealer Honda East, call ED. 5599 + 50 for documentation fees. Hes in Ohio. No tax for out of state folks, ships anywhere in the country for 200. Call that 5850 OTD. I took this deal to one of the dealers in my state and he gave me the same deal. It just isn't in yet...arrrghhh

I'll call them in the morning.

How does the TAX deal work? Wouldn't you have to pay tax if you reg. as a dual sport bike in your state? I'd be happy to get otd for 6K.

$6179 OTD, tax title everything. plus awesome dealer followup on parts and service. :D it is also the 7th bike I have bought from them in the past 4 years. Also if any of you have been following the Yen vs Dollar, it is on the rise. Last time that happened all the bike prices took a big jump. So watch out on the waiting aroud to see better prices thing, it may or may not catch you with a higher pricetag :)

Yeh, most states will sock it to ya, if you go dual sport tags. MVD will get ya one way or another if you want to ride it on the roads.

Good point about the Yen/Dollar. I'd of bought it already, but the bikes haven't arrived at the dealerships here in Dallas. I'm calling every other day to see when they arrive.

My understanding of the tax deal: right now one state can't charge another states tax. When you get the bike...if you register it (like we should) you will have to pay the tax for your state registration. If you don't register it, you don't. I believe they send you the MSO (manufacturers statement of ownership) this is what you take to your MVD for registration. Depending on where you live, this registration may be 3% or so. Ed can give you the full story. I recently heard there is a proposal floating around about an internet tax (how creative of these folks to find yet another tax for the consumer). This internet tax would do something similar by forcing sellers to somehow charge tax at the consumers home state rate and then getting to the home state, or something similar.
