I have a 2012 CRF450R and installed a Yosh slip on. Do I have to remap it or can I run it as is. I realize that it will run much better with a remap, but do I have to?
If I put a Yosh slip on muffler on my 2012 crf450r do I need to remap?

why wouldnt you? to gain power from a pipe the mapping should be changed. all you have done as of now is changed the sound of the bike and most likely hurt performance.

It's the best $50-$65 bucks you can spend after you've installed any aftermarket exhaust component. Just do it.

I just put the Yosh RS-4 slip-on on my 2012. As far as I am concerned, YES, you absolutely must remap. The bike is stupid lean lean now. Think about it, the stock can is so restricted the mapping must be very lean to match it. With the new exhaust on my bike it now has a really bad bog if you try to whack the throttle fast, kinda like the infamous 2006 CRF250.
By the way, I am running the RS-4 with the SA removed and the 96db insert in.
So now I need a remap. I also plan to put the Twin-Air powerflo kit on which has no backfire screen which will lean it out even more. Eventually I plan to put a high-comp piston in to get some grunt out of it.
QUESTION: Will the mapping tool that was released in 2009 for the 09 bikes work on all of them up to 2012? My buddy has a 2009 tool I can borrow.

You're right about the remap. If you don't have a lot of experience with the mapping tool, your better off sending it to a place like Tokyo Mods for $90 and your done. They did mine and it made a huge difference. Just sayin.
