My 2000 TC 610 was running fine until the weekend when it cut out on tickover and has not started since. During normal fault finding I noticed that the spark was very weak and has now vanished altogether. Does anyone know how to tell if the CDI has failed or the generator has gone? I have measured the reistance of the excitaion coil and the pulse coil, they are about the same (5 ish ohmes). When I measure the voltage coming out I get 1V from one of the coils and next to nothing from the other - this seems wrong. What voltage should I be getting? Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks. Andy.

Check the magnet ring inside of the flywheel first, they are notorious for slipping inside of the flywheel.

Hi there. I have checked the rotor and the magnets all seem solid to me. I have seen a lot of info about these coming loose but I'm not sure thats the problem here. Is it obvious when they are loose?

Just hold it between knees, put fingers inside try to pull them out, be carefull if it starts to come out leave it alone and give me a call.  I've fixed hundreds of them

This is a simple DIY fix, i did it with mine a couple of months back. total cost about £3 for some epoxy resin. I will post up pics and instructions later.
