I have found an extremely mint 1997 kx 250 with every possible option to make a MX'er a great woods bike.  From a gnarly pipe and FWW to skid plates and a kick stand.  Everything is new, suspension revalved, brand new plastics.

Is a 97 too old? $2400 obo CAN dollars.  Should I look at something newer?

97 isn't too old, but price is a bit steep for my taste. I have a 98 YZ250 and it doesn't seem to lack in anything compared to some of the guys I ride with.

I agree the price is on the high side, but i imagine it could be "had" cheaper.

It goes without saying that a 15 year old bike isn't going to handle like a 2012...it just depends on a buyers budget. Bikes are expensive in Canada...I can buy similar for $1200-$1400 all day

Whats too old about it if its in the kind of shape you say its in? Unless you plan on racing it at a professional level it'll work as good for you as anything else, especially if its in great shape
Not sure how canadian dollars break down to american, so can't help you much on the price tho

Sounds about right for Canadian bikes, I look at prices often, thats normal for a mint bike.  Although I'd offer 2k!

That's about a $1000 to high, even by canadian standards. I know about 10 bikes right now with the oldest being a 03 in that price range.

Don't buy it, walk away!

I bought my 2008 RM125 for $2800 and I got a smoking deal on it. Most (90%) of the 125's around here are around $3000, and I mean like a 2002 125 for $3000. I had never seen a 125 newer than 2005 for under $3000. So I did really well. I would say the bike is worth maybe $2200 or $2300.

Canadian bikes tend to be $1000 more than what it would go for in America.

Definitely not too old, I just rebuilt a 98 KX250 and it is a tractor, pulls hard all day long. The only way I would pay 2400 for it is if it came with an A-kit suspension setup.
