buying two 04-06 suzukis rm250s vs. 1 2012 KTM SX250

I ride moto and by far my favorite bike I have ever owned was a 03 rm250. Everything about it was perfect, expecially how well it cornered and how light it felt. So I gotta ask you guys a question, what would you guys do. Buy two 04 suzukis rm250s or 1 2012 KTM SX250? I can get 2 decently low hour rm250's or buy 1 new 2012 KTM 250sx for about the same price(about $7000). What would you guys do?

If you are chaseing a series for points then having a back up bike is a very good option.

I'd think if you're planning on having a race bike and a parts bike, two rm.'s makes sense. If it's a race bike and practice bike, then your putting parts on two machines. I've been tempted by the sx too, but I wrench on my own stuff I'm not confident working on wp. If the rm is an old friend it may be the way to go. What about one rm and $3500 left for mods, race fees and beer?

My first thought is $7000 for two 04's is ridiculous. They are worth $2000 each at best, if they're in mint condition.
As for which to buy, guess only you would know based on your plans.

I have owned 2 identical bikes in the past and in the long run, owning one is less expensive. I would buy the new KTM or as stated above get one RM and spend the extra money on setting it up and riding expenses.

I'd have to agree. x2 rm 250s for 7k? They better be right out of the crate for that price.

I went from one 2011250 XC with sx head and ignition to an 03 RM250 which is the best bike ive ever owned. I quickly bought another RM and I wont be switching anytime soon. Im not sure what your paying for each but if i was given the option new SX that i couldnt sell or my $1400 RM250 id stick with the RM. Yes I have ridden the 12 sx along with most off road racing bikes. Riding buddies that own new set up KTMs and Yamahas ride my bike and ask how mch ill take for it and now some of them have purchased RM's. Both are my favorite bikes though, I am just much faster on the RM
