Pffft. Everybody knows the best way to gain horsepower is to chrome everything :)  Isn't it like 1 hp per small piece and 4 per each large piece?

Back in the early 80's my brother and I were at a local MX race, when we ran into a school mate. A friend of his was racing and leading his class. It was a Yamaha YZ250 and he said he had a Maico 490 powerband installed. Even at 13 and 14 years old, it took everything we had to not laugh in his face. We actually thought of repackaging vacuum cleaner belts and power bands and selling them.

I'll be honest, for quite a while I actually though bikes did have powerbands. Maybe around 13-14yrs of age did I learn that wasn't how things were.

I think it would be a great idea for dealers to start carrying these as gag gifts for your riding buddies!

I put 2 powerbands on my YZ 125 to make it faster than a 250.  Will update after the test run.  In case you were wondering, I got the Stanton and Bradshaw ones, they were hard to get together, but now I can run in the vintage races!

I always thought the term power band was stupid anyways.I used to work with some guys that sent a new guy to the station with a five gallon bucket to get five gallons of propane.I never saw the humor in taking advantage of a persons gullability or ignorance in that way.

Now someone advertizing something for sale and including nonexistant details about is a little funny.

Ya I went snipe hunting. We were at Turkey hunting camp sitting around the camp fire, I was about 13 when my dad decided I was old enough to snipe hunt in the dark woods. He wouldn't be far off doing the same. After about two hours of hearing every sound in the woods I finally walked out to see everyone else sitting around the camp fire. Bastards! I thought it was hilarious. After that I never did fall for fetching the bucket of steam, bucket of holes, fetch the sky hook, go get me the rod stretcher because I cut this one a little too short....................................

It is all in good fun and part of coming to age as long as there is no harm then there is no foul!

My dad got me with a left handed hammer, when I was about 13 or so. I believed him and looked for it for about an hour, mainly because I'm left-handed I thought it would exist untill I caught on. Still look back and laugh.
Have also seen people been told to go fetch a bubble for a spirit level, and a 3 foot metre stick.
