Thought Id, post up this pic of the 2013 GasGas. And the list of changes. I personally love the way they look, and all the small issues I heard about the 2012 seem to have been addressed. This should be a great (and likely my next) bike.

Changes to 2013:
1. 6 degree increase in the turning angle.
2. Change in geometry of the rear suspension (New links) that provides greater grip, stability and better general performance. Also lower seat height.
3. Changed side of the steering lock
4. Suspension fine-tuned by HRG (Suspension specialists).
5. New filter access system (one bolt only).
6. Reinforced plastic cross-member
7. New top roller guide for the chain with built-in bearing (this will come in as a running change once we have used up the existing gusset plates, around 2000).
8. New brace for the front mudguard (the latest 2012 models were already fitted with them).
9. Reinforcement on side plates of the radiator. A bolt fixture is also to be incorporated.
10. Fixture of the side number panels with bolts to stop them from moving.
11. New, more modern valve cover.
12. New reinforced kick-start lever (the latest 2012 models were already fitted with them).
13. New bell housing, with oil release holes (for cooling) but more reliable.
14. New tank for better fit of the plastic
15. New attachment for the brake line guide so that it does not touch the fork mudguard.
16. New brake line with riveted cover to prevent the front wheel from pulling it in (the latest 2012 models were already fitted with them)
17. New side guards. (Frame guards).

Where did you read that? How did it gain 20lbs in a year? The 2012 dry weight was 225lbs

There was a recent test of the bike in in Dirt Rider, bike weighed in at 245, no fuel......

Here is another thread about where it was talked about.....

EDIT: I overlooked that this was a 2013 model, not the 2012. The 2012 model weighed in a 245lbs with no fuel, im not sure if the 2013 lost weight but we shall see.

The claimed dry weight of the 2012 GasGas is 225lbs. But that may be a bit optimistic, you add coolant and engine oil its going to go up about 10lbs.So I would of expected to see about 235..not 245. I know that the prior year GasGas's were around 230-240lbs with no fuel and GasGas Claimed the 2012 got a 4 lb weight reduction. Id Like to see an apples to apples comparison with a KTM300, both ready to ride. I bet their within a couple pounds of each other. But supposedly the 2012 feels lighter handling than many lighter bikes, I know my GasGas300 feels lighter than my YZ250 when riding even though its 10lbs heavier

From the test, GG claims the new frame was lighter.....

Guys, don't get so caught up in the weight.  When I bought my 2011 250 Gas Gas I also owned a 2009 KTM 250XCW.  I rode them back to back a few times and the GG definitely felt lighter when riding.  I have a few tight sections that requires flicking the bike back and forth, and the GG is defiinitely more flickable.

Weight is important, but so is where it is located and how it is distributed in relationship to the center of gravit of the bike.  It's just a matter of physics.  At any rate, I've been one of those guys that is always looking for a light weight bike option, and if I would have known in the GG was 20 lbs heavier I would have thought twice before buying.  I'm glad I didn't know in advance because you would never know it when riding.

Keep in mind it also comes with some heavy parts:  FMF Q Stealth silencer, head light, tail light, skid plate and aluminum radiator gaurds (at least my 2011 Race model came stock with all of that plus a map switch, spare top end, two sets of engine gaskets, spare clutch and brake levers and spare brake pads)

Ride one before getting too worried about the weight.

I agree, but have you every pushed a Husaberg 450 into a truck? It hides it weight well untill it stops moving. 245lbs in 4t territory and getting stuck or lifting over a log will show its colors brightly........

Nope, I never pushed a 450 Husaberg into a truck, but I've pushed  the fllowing sized KTM'S, BETA, Suzuki, Yamaha and GG into a truck 450, 400, 350, 250 and 200 .  Although I don't really know what that has to do with anything.  All I care about it is how it feels when I'm riding.  If I found myself picking the bike up more than riding it then it would be a different story.  Weight was more important to me before I had back surgery because sometimes it was much more difficult to pick the bike up then.  I ride enduros, HS and trail ride, and as long as I can finish the races and still feel O.K. at the end then it's not too much bike.  As a disclaimer my GG is a 250 not a 300.

I dont think my 12 EC 300 is very heavy. Never weighed it but feels very light. This is one of the best turning bikes I have owned, suspension with a respring and get the oil level right was  spot on. If you ride the tight stuff look at the Gas Gas.

For a 2 stroke a gasgas is on the heavy side but every 2 stroke is generally lighter than 4 strokes. My street legal 09' Beta 525 RS was weighed at 262 wet with over half a tank of gas..I think that's pretty light considering... and I take that through much harder stuff than I ever imagined. ..As long as I'm riding my 4stroke Beta it's great. When it gets to really tough technical hard stuff I want a nice light 2 stroke .. When you have to push pull and carry any weight off is great.... The new gasgas look great and the reputation in the trails is well known.. Solid bikes that are tough and work great in the trail and look great too. I recently rode a 2011 gasgas 250 with electric start and was very much impressed. The 2013 out to be great. I look forward to seeing them when they come out. I'm looking forward to seeing the new OSSA , gasgas, and Beta 2t... I guess Husky too but for some reason they aren't brought in around here...anyway I like that the 2 strokes are coming back stronger and stronger..  who knows I may get one of these gasgas bikes... I like both 2 and 4 t.

I don't think most people really weigh their bikes. I put every one of mine on certified scales(as it's to be ridden...full tank, tools, parts, etc). They are all heavier than I would have guessed. I hear lots of guys complain about bike weights. If a KTM, GG, or whatever is to heavy for you...Try scooting through the woods on my IT400, or DR6piggy. I don't worry as much about weight, as much as how the machine "feels" while being ridden...by me. Just a thought.

I got  my 13 the other day and have taken it in one run of about 12 miles in some single track. They changed the ignition, it is now much smoother from the low to the mid. Put my jetting in from the 12 and it seems pretty good maybe a little lean which the 12 allways seemed to be rich. Lots of little changes to plastic. This thing rips! Will post some pictures latter, my clubs enduro is this weekend so tied up with that.
