TT500 F vs E engine numbers & differences?

Hi,
I've just checked out the engine and frame numbers in my '79 TT500F - the frame number is 1T1 203453, but the engine number is 1T1 104333.
According to what I've been able to find on the net, the frame number is correct for a 1979 F model, but the engine number is for a 1978 E model.
Firstly, can anyone confirm my diagnosis of the numbers please, and secondly (assuming I have an E model engine), is there any difference between an E model engine and an F model engine?
