You could buy some TRX450R front shocks and have them re valved and re sprung. That would be the cheapest option, a lot cheaper then going with after market shocks

If you want to be competitive in racing, a suspension upgrade is the best bang for the buck.  After learning the hard way back in '06 with my Yamaha 450 (bought exhaust high compression piston first) I went with a Total Axis suspension and Precision stabilizer for my '07 Lt450r.  During dunefest sandcross racing and with stock exhaust I lapped all but 2 riders in my class (+40AM).  With the suspension doing the work, you're using less energy to ride hard and you become MUCH faster.   There are limitless options available to you with regard to upgrades from hundreds, to thousands of dollars.  Get a hold of your favorite suspension company and give them a call...you'll be glad you did.

Either 450r front shocks revalved and resprung for your weight or contact GT Thunder and check out their HLS shocks. I think a pair for the front of the 400 are about $400 for the non reservoir set already set up for your weight and riding style. They also do the work to make the 450r shocks right for you too. Suspension will be your best investment for xc racing, money well spent !
