Aloha Dr. Mark,

This injury happened three and a half weeks ago.  I have been told surgery is needed, but opted for letting it heal on it's own, as the ortho seemed like he was selling me a used car, and only spoke of cosmetic issues. I am starting to feel stronger, and have minimal to no pain. I still feel the bone move, granted not nearly a much or unstable as before, but want to get out of the sling asap. I wanted your opinion on when I should ditch it, as the feeling of the bones clicking is a bit unerving, but not painful, and I don't want to delay further healing. Thanks for your time, and valuable opinion.

Ok, what do you suppose I do, I never did take the sling off, and am just waiting for the clicking sound to stop before I take it off.  Any other info?  Thanks, again.

Thanks again, just one more question.  What type of exercise can I do, walking distances with the sling, what the highest level of exercise would you recommend without jeopardizing healing?  I have no access to stationary bikes, or treadmills, btw.

No one can predict the future, but this one looks like it will heal quickly.  Two to three months, but that is just my guess.

Yes your right i should of stated my question differently i ment with all the clavicle surgerys you do do you find that most people can go back to lifting weights with the plate in there. the reason i ask you is cause you have done so many that you have seen more people and would know if they were able to get back to lifting my doctor here in cnada has not done anywhere near the amont you have so he doesnt have the knowledge you have thank

Dr. Mark put a plate in my right clavicle back in 2010. I have since completely healed up and returned to MX. I also lift alot of weights. It has not slowed me down at at. I mainly train with heavy dumbbells (115 pounders) on chrst days with no problems. I do make sure I stretch and warm up before going heavy.
Good Luck
