I use a 50t for woods racing, but it will depend somewhat on your riding speed. Sometimes I ride with a local off-road club and I end up feathering the clutch way too much to go as slow as the guys riding WRs. If you go bigger than 50t then it would help with really slow speed stuff, but you may need a longer chain too.

Don't go any higher then a 51 tooth. I put a 52 on the back of my 450 and it was way too much low end power. I tried it for two rides and took it off. It was next to impossible to keep the rear tire connected to the ground. It just spun every time I tried to get on it. Just my experience. If you were closer i would let you try it. It's brand new. LOL

The Rekluse is an auto clutch. They make 3 different designs of them. They all operate on centrifugal force, and will both automatically engage and disengage the clutch at the preset RPM you set them up for. The result is that the engine is nearly impossible to stall, and the clutch will be modulated exactly as much as it needs to be whenever it needs to be without your input or attention to the matter.

All 3 models can be overridden by a clutch lever in a reasonably normal manner. The downside is that one of the 3 can't be bump started at all; the other two can be temporarily adjusted so as to be able to bump start if required. They're extremely useful in any kind of off-road situation with high-strung MX bikes like the YZF.

It usually happens at a low speed and it is certainly possible it is because I am a gear high. I have a Z-start Pro and I am running both springs and all ball bearings...thinking of ordering the tungsten kit soon

So then, you are set up "mid speed/quick engagement rate". I had the same problem with mine. Remove 3 of the 27 balls so that there are 24 in the clutch. Make the spaces evenly 8 balls apart from one another. This will let the clutch engage at the same speed, but a bit less aggressively ("mid speed/slow engagement rate), and should solve your problem. It's the exact opposite of adding the tungsten kit, which would be the wrong way to go, IMO. Try it. Costs nothing.

I have the core exp on my 09 yz450. There is so little engine slip compared to the z-start pro that was in yz250 that low speed is too jerky. I dropped the gearing to a 52 rear with 13 front. What this does for me is in those super technical sections I have enough engine rpm to keep from being too jerky. Too low rpm is just that, not controllable and very close to stalling. Not comfortable on some rock ledges, or multiple tree roots into a super tight turn. So far the 52 is good. I am contiplating selling the core exp to go back to the Z-start to get more slip.

Anyone else have similar experience?

The Core EXP can be tuned the same way as the Z-Start Pro can, except that you have to disassemble the actuator ring. By mixing or changing out the springs, you change the engagement RPM. By removing or adding wedges you change the rate at which the clutch applies.

All that's in your instruction sheet. If you can't find it, Rekluse makes it available online at their web site.
