Thanks for responding.
What does turning in the AP timing screw do?
I picked up a new plug today and am going to order a new needle and the R&D flex jet so I'll install all that when everything comes in.
Is the starter jet good with a #85?
You had mentioned earlier going to a 160 main, should I still do that with the EMP needle?
I also plan to replace the airbox lid with one that doesn't have hole drilled in it, will that affect what I should do with the jetting?

I'm also thinking I might order the SSW Single Pull Quick Turn Throttle, any thoughts on that?  I'm not completely sure how I feel about eliminating the return cable.  I'm also unsure if I would like the 1/4 turn throttle...
I'll double check the engine mounts regardless.  I noticed the carb was extremely close to the frame when mounted, looks like it may have even rubbed at some point...

Turning the AP screw delays the squirt...
Jetting as per post #11
All Eddie's products are quality stuff...I run his SSW single pull cable and most of his other products...not essential but reduces the cable cluster...

Ensure carb is vertical and clamps./rubber boots are seated correctly ...

Just to double check, this is the needle I need, right?

Yes, correct needle...

So I installed the EMP needle on the 3rd clip along with the new spark plug tonight.  Still waiting on a 160 main...  It seems to rev better and have a bit more snap to it now, especially in the mid-throttle area, however, it pops a lot on decel now.  It did a little before, but now it's a lot worse.  I didn't adjust the fuel screw yet, was going to wait to do that for when I had the carb off to do the rest of the changes, would the fuel screw being in so far do that?  It's currently a 1/2 turn out.

Yes...Set it at 2 turns as a baseline....

I turned out the fuel screw to 2 full turns out before leaving for work this morning and it made a huge difference!  Almost no popping on decel, only from a really high rpm to chopping the throttle would bring a few out but otherwise it's a few pops here and there from mid rpm's and done.  Almost nonexistent from lower rpm decels.  I'll correctly tune the fuel screw once I get everything else installed including a flex screw, I just wanted to see if it would make a difference for now, I really hate that popping on decel...

Is some popping on decel normal?

So I made a bunch of changes last night; I put in the 160 main, installed the flexible fuel screw and set it at 2 turns out, turned in AP screw a 1/2 turn, and installed the SSW throttle; on top of already putting in the EMP needle on 3rd clip with a new plug... WOW is what I have to say.  All of those changes made a huge difference!  It feels like a totally new bike now.  It runs crisper, revs more freely and doesn't have a bog anywhere in the throttle range.  Occasionally there's a bit of hesitation when hitting the throttle quickly (not free revving it) and seems to miss and then hit hard.  I'm wondering if that's the fuel screw or the AP timing being adjusted though... Perhaps I should try turning the AP screw back out a 1/2 turn?  Who knows where the dudes before me had it set.  Either that or perhaps the fuel screw?  It seems to idle slower after all the changes and it was fine before doing them.  I followed the instructions on tuning the fuel screw and it seemed to help the idle and changed the way the throttle felt.  I haven't put seat time on it yet to determine if that fixed the issue though.  I put the fuel screw at 1 1/2 turns out.

Also, the SSW throttle is super nice.  Getting to WOT is super quick now and it just feels more responsive, obviously because of the shorter throw, but it's still fun and I don't think it's bad at all for city cruising :)

Thanks a ton for all the help already!  I think it's just fine-tuning from here to find the sweet spot, and until I do get a full exhaust.

A correctly tuned pilot circuit with have some popping on decel....If it's annoying you, try turning out the fuel screw a little...no more than 1/4 turn....

Okay, I will keep that in mind.
