2012 KTM 300 XC Ignition curve switch.

I just bought a new 2012 300 XC and brought it home yesterday after 4 years on Husqvarna's. I got a bunch of goodies for it, and was going to get the ignition curve switch, but my parts guy said it doesn't really do anything. What are some of the thoughts from the guys that currently have them?
