What are you guys wearing for padded bike shorts. Are you getting the Lycra/spandex or mesh liner with padding. I would think the liner shorts would be a bit cooler. I have to order online because there are no bike shops near me that carry anything of the sort and I would like to get the right style.

I've been wearing a pair of padded EVS lycra/spandex type shorts for years. They've held up well, thru all the washings and use. And saved my narrow butt from injury multiple times. I wear no underwear with mine. The mesh type, I would think you'd need/want to.

I think I might buy a pair of each to try. There is only $4 difference between the two. I tried on a mesh pair when I was on holidays in the states but I thought one size larger would be better but they didn't have. These were cycling shorts at a Dick's sporting goods store. They called them mesh but I couldn't see through them at all but I could feel a difference in material.

Cycling shorts help mainly with preventing monkey butt and chaffing. The only thing usually padded about them is the crotch. If you want impact protection for hips, thighs and tailbone, you'll want to look at the moto shorts.

Monkey but is what I am trying to stop. See if these will help. If not Moto shorts are next.
