I have a 2000 rm250 supermoto which has a starting problem, it wont kick over or tick over. you give it a good few kicks and it will back fire but still wont start, however if you give it a push it will sort of start to go then all of a sudden it seems fine and roars like it should do once you keep it in the powerband, but as soon at it drops below around 3500 rpm it will cut out.. the pilot jet was blocked but the carb has now been cleaned out and is clean as a whistle, ive also reset the tick over screw and the mixture screw to how they should be, its got a nice bright spark but ive put a new plug in it and some fresh fuel but am still having the same problem? Has any one ever had this same problem? or can any one help me, thanks, Shaun

It sounds as if the pilot jet is still blocked or perhaps the pilot curcuit

failing that its broken or frayed a reed

Low compression?  enough to run at higher RPM but at slower it will die.  at higher RPM there isn't enough time to bleed off the preasure and she runs.... soon as it reaches a point the Compression bleads off to fast it won't run.

Check you compression... with a tester.  Atleast rule that out.

I had the same problem made farting sounds and ran only on a pull start at high rpms. Turns out I had 50 psi compression.
