Sleds hardly break as much. You spend more on gas but its worth it nothing beats off trail riding

Depends on how hard you ride them, and to a certain extent, the make/model of the sled.  Some are better than others.

My 900 I was fixing every week to wreck again on the weekends.
My Pro's been much better, more of a gas-and-go sled.  Really haven't had to do anything big on that.

Option #2: Buy a lift ticket and some skis.

I will say that most of my friends here in CO rent sleds as they only go out a handfull times per year.

Yea, if you're not riding regularly, the cost+upkeep/maintenance/registration adds up fast.  If you're only going out once or twice a year, you're much better off renting.  Riding hard and often, you'll want a sled you can take whereever, whenever you want and set up for your riding.

That said, what I spend on a sled/fuel in a season, vs. what some people pay for lift tickets ... sled's not that much more expensive.
