Hey folks,
My brother and I are planning on going to the Hard Rock trial on July 21/22 to check it out. We're complete newbies (havent bought bikes yet) and are on an information gathering mission! We're looking to learn as much as possible and get some leads on bikes for sale.

Which day would be better to attend? The Saturday beginner/vintage event or the Sunday Advanced event? Do we just rock up and say hi or is there anything specific we need to do as spectators? We'll be walking around so will we be able to see much or are a lot of the sections too far away for walkers?
Thanks in advance for any tips!

If it were me (and I wish it was) and I had to pick, I would hit the Sunday event. You can watch all the videos you want, but there is nothing like seeing good riders in person! Also, don't dismiss the senior riders- some of the best bike control I have seen(that I can comprehend what is happening) has been from watching these guys-less flash, just great riding skills. Enjoy!

i did my 1st trial with sac. pits a couple of weeks ago ,had a great time.i rode the 3 line and was challenged enough that i got some what frustrated at the how easy some people can cruise right thru some sections that i would lag on.
i have been only riding trials a couple of months but have been riding off-road for many years.great new challenge!!
i would show up sat. and get an idea of what its all about, and have fun.eveybody i have met in the club has been helpful and gives advice about technique.i will be there at the pits property for the hardrock on sat.for some more fun.
there is another event at boreal this wknd at the west end of the parking lot its a arhma event ck it out

I rode the last Saturday event. Most of the sections were technical turns in the trees. Pictures of the Sunday Trial looked more interesting, rocky sections. The sections will be a shorter walk on Saturday. The loop is usually longer on Sunday.
It will be dusty and warm. There were 2 bikes for sale last time. Bring some cash and plan to ride! Dan would bring this one if you are interested:

The main meeting area is on the north edge of the main parking lot -

Watch out for this guy if you are on foot

I have done two of these events. The people are super laid-back, friendly, and helpful. I must admit the sport is very addicting. You will go through a section and make a mistake and you will swear you could have done it better - then you want to try again. I have had a trials bike since April and ridden dirt bikes most of my life. At the Kraut Cup I rode the 2 line on Saturday (2nd) and the Sportsman line on Sunday (2nd). Good luck finding a bike. I am in the large group photo above, just to the left of the guy in the foreground with the FOX shirt on. Take care and I hope to see you at the next event.
