Id say youve got air in it still. Try this

Pull the lever to the bar and tie it there with a tywrap or something. Then loosen the banjo on the slave and collapse the slave (pull it back out) then without letting it extend tighten the banjo back up. You may need to do that a couple times. Youve got air in something somewhere. If youre getting a bubble in the master when you bump the lever, its coming out, but you just have to keep at it. Its a pain in the ass I know, but you just gotta keep at it.

You can tap the line and the slave with the plastic handle of a screw driver to free up bubbles that will rise up through the master too. Feel free to tap the master also.

I have one on my 07 crf that looks exactly the same.  My fully extended to fully retracted slave piston moves a lot further than the pictures you have shown.  I also agree that there must be air in the system somewhere although that is odd.  Mine came pre-bled and worked perfectly out of the box.

As for the comments about the slave mount to the cylinder wall, I agree I was skeptical at first but have had it on there for several months of riding and no issues so far.

well... I just tried bleeding it. either I didnt do it right, or I didnt do it long enough.

I cracked banjo bolt, squeezed lever, tightened banjo, and let the lever retract. then repeat 3x or until master is almost empty, but NO AIR!!!!! then re-fill the master with mineral oil.... still didnt work! I must have done that process nearly 50 times. I seen bubbles come out at one point, eventually they stopped though.  pretty much still at square one.

one thing I did notice though... I pulled the slave rod back and forth. as I was doing that it sounded like there was a leak somewhere.. I couldnt find where though. I cant really see that being my problem. everything seemed to be very tight. I will have to bring a bottle of soap and water next time I go work on the bike.

it does seem like the slave is too long though, and the stroke of it isnt enough.. but the part number on the box says its for a 05 450r so I dont know what the hell is going on!

I would really like to get the bike/clutch figured out by the weekend though... I have a chance to borrow a friends bike and take the girl friend for a ride. I know shes really looking forward to it so I could really like to figure out this damn clutch!!!!!

thanks guys.

I will try your trick Shawn. thanks!

The sound you're hearing is likely the air escaping from the slave cap.  As the piston moves up the air has to go somewhere and that's where.   You'll especially hear this after washing the bike.  One of the 500 guys drilled a hole in the top of the cap and ran a vent line up under the tank.  The logic being air going out could be dirt going in.

You never should have had to bleed a new Magura.  That's BS!  Should be a bolt up and run deal.  I think I would have taken/sent it back.

I think their bleeding technique is on their site but that involves buying their bleeding kit.  Again, BS!

At this point, I'd call Magura and ask to speak to a technician.

so its supposed to make that sound?

I know I shoudlnt have to bleed it... almost like it has to be shimmed, that is also BS.. even if I shimmed it to the max though I still dont think it would pull the clutch actuator enough.

I emailed magura again. theyve ignored me once already! I will call tomorrow, im probably going to get a german number to call!

why does it have to be their bleeding technique? is the one I posted above wrong?    "I cracked banjo bolt, squeezed lever, tightened banjo, and let the lever retract. then repeat 3x or until master is almost empty, but NO AIR!!!!! then re-fill the master with mineral oil"

Yes, it's gonna' make that sound.  The air space above the piston has to go somewhere or the piston couldn't move freely if at all.  Again, you'll really notice it after washing the bike.  I ordered a replacement cap from BTO to do a clean mod but got the Gen1 cap by mistake.

Hopefully, a call with help.  If it doesn't, I would put the stock cable back on the bike so you can ride this weekend and send that shit back and get a replacement.

WWOOWW. so I thought I would try 1 more thing... the magura forum.. well thats just made me even more pissed off now.

after struggling with their damn near impossible case sensitive "captcha" image about 8 times they proceed to tell me that the email im using (@hotmail.com) is "not accepted by this board"   you gotta be @#$&(* kidding me!!!!!!!!!!

pretty diasppointed right now by magura. it really sucks because I also ordered one for a friends cr250r and his installed in 10 mins and he absolutely loves it. weve wanted hydraulic clutches for a year now! finally bit the bullet and spent 550$ on the 2 of them and this is what i get! awesome.

Where did you buy it at?  Call them and get a RMA and send it back and have them ship another.  Like I said before, put the cable, etc, on for this weekend.

I bought it off ebay... been struggling with it for almost a month now. not sure if i can return it. even if I could, by the time I pay for shipping back.. receive 80% of what i paid (minus shipping to me probably wont get that refunded), exchange rates, and paypal fees... ill probably get 100$ back.

I finally got in contact with a guy from magura... hopefully he can help me out. and yup, im going to have to install the cable clutch back on for the weekend.... better than nothing, but im still not happy!!!!!!

I can see this taking major time to fix, and maybe even some money. not cool.

so I got a call from peter. the magura guy. long story short... he said to take the slave off, and give the clutch a few pumps... if it locks up and gets tight... there is no air.

so I did that.. confirmed that there is no air in the line.... so he said must be wrong part... well the part number on the unopened box I got says its for 02-08 crf450r.. I have an 05 so &%$#@!?!  hahah this sucks.

either the rod is too long.

or the mount should be further back. I dont know..

If you did not receive the correct clutch with the correct amount of pull, then I would say that you have some "slack" that could be due to not having correct spacers where the mount for the clutch and the slave cylinder mate. This happened to me and I just added the right spacer so there was no play and my clutch disengaged properly after a bit of breaking in. Ride the bike for a bit before you make your decision that the clutch is not right

You are having far to many problems with this. A $100 is better then nothing. You might have to just suck it up and take that $100 and apply it to another unit.

And yes Mugura's website is shit. It is just a static site that is hosted on dogsballs.net and is umpteen hops across the ocean into eurorings.net hell. Nothing of any use there
