Ever had a bad experience with Craigslist?

First it's the scammers. "Dear sir I would kindly like to purchase your object but being a soldier in the armed forces means I am not available to visually inspect your object. I can send western union and arrange my shipping agent to receive the item..."
Then there's the legit buyers that never show up. They want to buy my junk, we talk on the phone, arrange a time/place to meet, and they never show up.
Those that do always try and haggle to a lower price. Even if it's a $5 toaster. I've driven places to meet with someone who isn't right in town, burned an hour of my time and a gallon or two of fuel in the truck for a $50 item, then they want to talk me down to $30. If they came and picked it up from my house, maybe. But the fact that I went out of my way to make the sale, no, you're paying $50, deal?
I've had people that think my $5 junk comes with a warranty. "I plugged it in and my cat knocked it over and now the left side isnt as hot as the right, can I return this?" What the f***, dude, it's a $5 toaster.
Don't know about you guys, but when I get an email I'll usually run the name through google/facebook to see if there's anything real weird about them. I've had some that looked legit but I simply deleted... people a week out of prison, etc... sorry, but yeah, i'm not giving you my home address.

Finally found the 250F at a local dealer on consignment.
Have never tried to sell anything on CL. Too easy to take bikes to the shop up the road and consign them. That way I don't have weirdos showing up at my house.

The guy wanted to drive up, pick up my bike, (without paying for it) take it back to Tn. so he could test ride it and have his mechanic look it over. I just laughed. Told him if he wanted to go to all that trouble I would give him a few dollars for gas too.
Never heard from him again...What an idiot.

just calm down man, people are probably just saying "your bragging" because they're jealous of your sweet craigslist deals

As far as my experiences, they have been pretty sweet. Bought and sold numerous bikes and other items without a problem. I love when someone asks me right away "what's the lowest you'll take?"
Just the other day my 5yr old son asked me, "Dad, is there a store that sells motorcycles?"

As for craigslist yes I have come up on a few deals on bikes like 02' Pw50 and 02' Pw80 that just needed a carb cleaning both for $700.
I traded a 96' blaster quad for a tricked out 03' rm85 just to name a few...yes you have to be careful and deal with the idiots but it's no different than posting an ad in the local paper or free classifieds! no bad experiences though!!

First off welcome to TT WWalker.
He's right though all we're doing is messing with you, we, or at-least I don't mean it personally!

We finally found one and rode it a couple of years. When we went to sell it on Craigslist a guy in Santa Rosa calls and says he has been looking all over for a CRF 50 for his son. He absolutely wants it and has the cash and can I meet him. we were headed to Middle Creek to ride that weekend any way so we packed up the 50 and meet the guy at Home Depot. He,shows up in a big jacked up poser 4 wheel drive with his son who is so small he doesn't even walk yet. His trailer trash wife starts ripping into him as we drive away with the little 50 packed back up.
Overall my dealings with people on Craigslist has been very positive and we have met some great people.
I sold my KTM950 Adventure within 3 hours of posting it. The guy showed up with the biggest wad of cash my wife had ever seen.
I use Cragslist for some business dealings that involve extremely large amounts of money and have never had a deal go sour.

That said,I've always had pretty decent luck with CL deals. I've yet to be raped or robbed anyway. Lol The one thing I don't care for is selling a bike for around a grand. Last bike I sold was an 02 YZ 125 for $1000 and that attracted teenagers like moths to a lightbulb. I got texts at all hours wanting to know if it's been rebuilt blah blah blah. I would give them the info and get "I'll ask my dad if we can come look at it". None of them ever came. Ended up selling it to the first guy who looked at it. He was in his 40's and didn't have to ask his dad. Never again will I post my number.
