This is my helmet set-up. It's the Fly Trekker DS in Matte Black with a mirrored shield. I also use the Sena SMH-10 bluetooth adapter with a quality pair of headphones and comply foam tips to help keep down the noise. I love it. I wear sunglasses underneath, so I raise the shield when its hot out and im going at slower speeds, but at faster speeds, there is plenty of ventilation. I love the overall look it gives me combinded with my DRZ SM. Attachment photo 1.JPG Attachment photo 2.JPG

what are those helicopters in the background?

A "Mike" model Black Hawk, the new medevac is a HH-60M, it replaces the UH-60L... wide chord blades, glass cockpit, etc...  I SHOULD know since I work for the manufacturer.

the only thing about these is that i would want a tinted lens and i ride at night a lot. it would be a pain in the ass to have to change them. i already carry an extra pair of goggles with me now...

My next helmet.

i also went to a local shop to day and compared the msr, fly trekker and afx 39..

the fly trekker and the msr are literally indentical down to the exact vents, and curves to the tip of the visor shape.. 100% indentical..

i personaly am about to order the afx 39 i thnk,,

id take the msr over the fly though, just cuz i like that simple deisgn on the pic you posted

The sucky part about having one of the Fly/MSR/AFX DS helmets with the tinted lenses is what a PITA it is to change shields and really if you're going to do it more than once, you need to buy another pivot kit on top of the shield cost. Goggles work with the helmet, but I'd only recommend them for riding in the dirt, you lose a TON of peripheral vision with them on and you're that much colder riding at night.
When I was replacing my AFX 39DS I was really set on getting the Icon Variant, but it's got a really odd fit. I'd make sure you try one on before dropping a bunch of money.
I ended up with the SS2500, good fit, composite shell (instead of plastic) and has a better quick release than the AFX.

im hoping to trade my defective oneal at cycle gear for the trekker. Id be fine paying the difference if i have to. im just done with oneal though. I really like how the trekker looks with a tinted lens. so it is that big of a deal to change the visor? its not something i'd want to do every day?  Id love to get an airoh but not sure how that would work to get a helmet repaired/replaced under warranty. if they even have a warranty. I found the cr900 for $250. i like it. now just to find somewhere to try them on. besides italy...

If you plan to change shields back and forth at all, order up the pivot kit, then it's not such a big deal. There's a good chance you could break the original pivot bits just trying to pry them off the shield. The other trick is to get the AFX tinted/mirrored replacements vs. the FLY/MSR, might be a batch thing, but I found the AFX ones had better clarity and fit.
