So the idiots at the local Yamaha dealership pretty much stripped my oil tank drain bolt when they put it together. Does anyone know the part number? I looked at the diagrams and cannot find it to save the life of me. I have a tap so Im just gonna tap the bolt out but need the part number. Im pretty pissed right now trying to do the break in oil change. Thanks for the help in advance guys.

found it, was just looking in the wrong place, your diagram helped, I didnt realize the oil pump tank was on the same diagram as the side cover plastics, weird place to have em, it was bolt 33 for the tank 31 is the drain bolt, for some reason yamaha in all there brillance made the tank bolt a phillips head screw type bolt and not a regular wrench bolt. &%$#@!? So easy to strip. Ordered and will be here for the next oil change. Thanks for the help!

Just a heads up there are no "Phillips" head screws on our bikes. They are JIS or Japanese Industrial Standard. That is why Americans strip out Japanese screws so easily. They have a slightly different shape and size than our screwdrivers. It would be a very wise investment to get a set of JIS screwdrivers from the Internet.

Wow I feel like an idiot, I was wondering why this happened. Explains alot. Guess my toolbox will now be filled up with metric and JIS tools since my truck is from there as well. Thanks!

I was looking this up, I was told by the mechanics that JIS is no longer used and only ISO. But seems right that thats the reason why the screw was stripped.

My 04 has JIS screws but after I stripped most of them out I replaced them with Allen head fastners like on the carb float bowl.

Yep i need to do that with my float bowl ones. I was hoping they had somethin with a small hex bolt, lol...i dont even like allen screws...seems whenever i need one i dont have the exact one, hahaha, even with the various sets I have.

I replaced mine with a bolt.  I had a well fitting bit and it still stripped out.  Screw is very soft metal.
