Thats just like the First and Second Gen Dodge Cummins, The 90's trucks...I have seen them sold on Ebay for easily double there KBB value.

That makes me feel good too. I did buy a new 2010 Cummins CCLB 4X4 with 6 spd manual. Hopefully, if the day to sell it ever comes, I can sell way over KBB on that one too.

Best is the Tacoma. Bar none, also the number 1 selling compact for a reason. The Pre Runner is the same deal, just a 2WD based on a 4WD chassis/powertrain.

Now you can find cheaper trucks. Toyota is by no means cheap. Even used,t hey bring in stupid prices. I know, sold a 98 TRD Tacoma truck I bought new, sold it last year for $13,500! Guy was happy to get it (one owner, alwasy garage, 60K miles, lots of added factory goodies). Kelly blue book was $7,600. I got about $6000 OVER kelly blue book.

Lots of decent trucks out there, less money. If you want the best, roll with the Tacoma.

thats insane someone would pay that much. 2.5 years ago the kbb for a '04 trd 4x4 xtra cab 3.4L 5spd 52K miles in like new condition was $16,500. if i ever sell it ill ask 20k. surely someone is dumb enough to buy it :)

My neighbor just about 2 yrs ago bought a 03 double cab Tacoma, TRD off road pkg, auto 4WD, tow pkg, 40K, paid $19,500 for it.

ive never looked into the 4dr so i dont know what they go for but 19,500 sounds like it would of been in the ball park on book value for the truck you described. i payed book value for mine (16,500) and never had a second thought about it, given the miles and condition, one owner and clean car fax. actually i checked carfax and another place like carfax just to be double sure of what i was getting.  what stumps me is why somebody would pay almost double what a vehicle is worth. i believe your story because there is goofballs out there that arent very smart but he could of got into a '04 trd 4x4 ext cab etc etc with about 60K miles for 2-3k more than what he bought yours for. maybe the guy was drunk ?? would sell mine tonight if i could get 5G more than its worth

I had an 89 S10 with the 2.8 v6 standard Trans 2WD. 24 mpg with 288k. The only reason I replaced it is my new job wants me to haul construction supplies.

Oh, and 4wd is for people who can't drive in the winter. Want proof? How many FedEx and ups trucks are 4wd?

......Or maybe 4wd is for people who don't want to put on chains when the mountain hwys will not let you thru without 4x4 or chains.  Or for people who need it to pull their boat out of a gravel boat ramp.  Or maybe for people who wheel their truck.
