Number Plate Aftermarket Headlight
Posted 25 June 2012 - 07:26 PM
I really love the headlight fragmasterkarl uses on his DR-Z. I have the S model and like how much the headlight looks so much like a number plate off a MX bike. So... I think I came across the headlight on Ebay at a decent price (http://www.ebay.ca/i...=item35bd5c65a0) and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this unit. I am still running the stock speedo.
Thanks guys!

Here is the acual light/website where everyone originally got it from (no clue how to convert price to compare on eBay) And not sure if they make cheaper copies either.

Could you refer me to a good site to order these bulbs and/or the bulbs I should be looking for?
Another note: how does the Ebay linked headlight look compared to the one from EasyParts? Easyparts as I understand is located in the Netherlands and the ebay seller is located in BC which would be more than convenient for me given I'm in Canada as well.

They come with landscape and kitchen accent lights.
I got the upgraded lights which are brighter landscape and kitchen accent lights.
Not enough light for cruising speed and totally illegal.
Also the lights are mounted parallel with the plate so you have to point the plate
down at the road and it looks ridiculous in my opinion.

If you just slap it on the front of the bike I hate it.
If you highly modify it like I did I love it!!

I did view the link and saw that you liked it, but then your comments on this thread and sounded like you didnt!
Thanks for the pic, a bit easier to see what you did. Tell me are the new bulbs still waterproof? You mentioned the low beam 55w gets hot, has it caused any melting as yet or all is good with a 55w bulb still?
And can you tell me where you sourced your cyclops low beam bulb from?

Got a couple thousand miles on it now and no issues with heat. No melting at all and both lights touch the plastic plate.
The cyclops low beam came from Tucker Rocky.

Thanks mate.
I'm not too good with headlights but I found this http://shop.thumpert...W-p4598017.html
Is the cyclops low beam a H4? Should it be straight plug and play? It just looks very different to the stock bulb in the TNT headlight. Or do I have to take out the entire H4 bulb assembly from the TNT headlight and replace with the cyclops assembly?

That's the one. It's a legal low beam. Plug and play. Not sure what kind of bulb is in it. Never took it apart.
I totally gutted and cut up the TNT number plate. All my lights mount to the bike on custom brackets on rubber mounts. I can remove the plate with 2 screws and the lights stay on the bike.
It's a lot of work to get everything aligned and fabricated but I think it's worth it. I get a lot of questions and compliments at the track and on the road.
The advmonster LED flood was the only really bright flood light I could find for a high beam that fit in the hole.
