Figured, I'd put this in Vintage because it seems fitting. A shop that I spend some spare time at had enough parts laying around from years of wrenching that me and the owner decided to finally take advantage of. We started with a 1978 Exiciter 440 that had 500 miles on it and took the hood, seat, engine, exhaust, airbox and steering components out of. Then we took the remains of a 1980 SRX which was the gold anodized tunnel and belly pan, gas/oil tank and chaincase. Then we also hacked up a Excel III that had a blown engine for it's heated grips and throttle, and rear suspension. A track with some studs in it was donated from the supply shelves, along with some extra wheels for the track that a Phazer and late 90's SRX originally used. We left the engine all stock and jetted the single carb for what we needed. The clutching was a mix of Comet primary from an retired grass track racer and a set-up Yamaha secondary. To date we've been able to get 92 mph from it on the lakes, so when time permits we'll get into engine work to crack the triple digits. I need to get my camera's cord so I can get some pictures up.
