I've picked up a 92 quadracer for a nice price from local craigslist. I'm fairly. Ssavvy with old two strokes but this one has me stumped! I've checked compression, 170 cold with reed block carb off. The top reed petals were shattered so I got replacements and a new intake boot f or the rad valve intake it came with. Cleaned and set the needle 4th groove from top. New plug fresh gas. Checked air filter, popped the stator off and noticed a clear looking liquid in t he bottom of side cover and can see it oozing a little from the counterbalance seal. While running sprayed carb cleaner directly around base and top gasket, reed gasket, into the stator to see if it makes a change irpm. Its surgingand willnot idle on its own. Midrange and topend cutout very bad. I think its very lean. Has a fmf pipe silencer. Ordered a new seal kit and complete gasket set. Was going to try and put a new oil seal on the stator side 1st. Could it be a coolant or air leak? Its hard to get started as well. Any help would be appreciated. Bryan

It realy sounds like you are running lean.

When you sprayed carb cleaner to check for leaks did it react even in the slightest bit ?

Check the left crank seal.

Did it ever run right since you bought it?

Clean the gas tank, the fuel lines, and the carb again.

Use compressed air thru the piolt jet and idle circuit.

And when all else fails check your exhaust to see if its pluged.
