Hi there,

Which make/model do you guys reccomend? I have about $2000 to spend, so I was looking into the sx series and the superjet. If there are any other brands I should consider, please share your opinion. If anybody owns either of the models I mentioned, please share if you love it or hate it, and why.

Thanks,
Brett

For 2,000 you will be able to get a pretty nice ski. I would look primarily at superjets (round nose since your budget allows it) and the 750 sx/sxi. From what I understand superjets are great for surf and free style while the sx/sxi are more stable and better for racing and buoys.

Square Nose superjet or Round nose.  Dont bother with anything else.

get a roundnose (96 and up) superjet if you can. if you get a squarenose sj, make sure you get one with the 701 motor. (94-95). the 650 motors suck, and just about all other stan ups suck.  the fx-1 is kinda fun but takes some time and money to give it the hook up that the 701 sj has.

Bought my first stand up in the mid 1990s...a 1984 JS440.  Went to a JS550 later...super fun little machine.  I compare that 550 to a 600cc streetbike...much left to be desired on the power end, but really light and nimble.  I moved to a round nosed superjet for a year and hated it.  Like an earlier post suggested, it is quite unstable in comparison to the JS.  The following season I bought a single carb 1995 JS750, milled the head, put on an air cleaner, lowend prop, and plate.  Loved every minute of it since.

It's obviously preference, but I'd advocate for the JetSki.

$2000 is going to go a long way.  A 1993 550 isn't much LESS fun than a much newer 800 SX-R in my opinion.  If you are a beginner, find a really clean unit (no matter what it is) and go have fun.

OH, and the JS650s SUCK...avoid.
