On my recently acquired '98 KX125, I found that the cylinder head has perforations of sorts. From what I can tell about the bike, ( see here: http://www.thumperta...__fromsearch__1 ) it is an ex-pro bike, possibly with a Pro Circuit Engine. I've seen heads like this before, but I can't for the life of me remember where, and now that I own one, I'd like to figure it out. Has anyone got any information on this head design? Advantages or disadvantages? Looks neat that's for sure!

Looks like a backyard butcher job to me. Never seen one like it before, but by the uneven spacing and the holes not even being uniform in size i would say it's a hack job. IMO that head is trash.

I can't see how that would do anything but harm. Looks backyard to me as well, I wouldn't run it haha

Looks like it would cause hot spots and lead to pre ignition...

That is actually a design that someone (Drag racers) came up with back in the 60's for the Dodge Hemi. It was supposed to create more turbulance of the mixture and a more equal combustion... which = a complete burn and more power. Turns out, it sucked. Most likely PC or whoever built the motor didn't do their homework.

I put it on TSM.

Never heard of doing that to a Hemi.

Seems to me that it would lower the compression ratio and rob some low end due to the holes making more volume. Phatheads are what's up. They are great to deal with to.  Im really surprised it is only 179.00 , seems like they could easily get another 50 bucks outta them.  Mine made a huge difference in power and cooling.

So what do you do when you have a clutch with the right friction material and the wrong everything else?
