I am in the process of replacing the seals on my 06 yz125 and i have just finished the front fork. I have now noticed that i forgot to put the fork spring washers back into the fork. I bought the bike with aftermarket suspension and I don't think the oem spring has these. Is it worth taking it back apart and putting the washers back in there, because i do NOT wanna do it unless i have to.
Thanks

Just to confirm, there is at least some preload on the springs without the washers?

Some aftermarket springs come with extra washers so you can get the correct free length for different models that the springs will fit. Chances are the springs are shorter than your oem springs so the washers you left out are what made the springs the right length with the right preload. Not knowing exactly where you are at I'd take them back apart & measure.....

If the springs are seated directly on the aluminum fork caps, the springs may chew away at the aluminum.

If his springs are seated on the forks caps he has a bigger problem then that, he has the wrong forks on his bike !  Did you miss sonething ?

what does that mean?
is it eg an Ohlins or Solva, is it from a different year/bike or has just the setup been modified?
The oem for doesn't have any spacer at all.
If there have been the springs been replaced with aftermarket springs there might be a possibility that there have been spacers added to compensate for different lengths, as doc already said.
Or more preload was on the wishlist and that's why there have been spacers in.
plus a bazillion more possibilities.
Whithout knowing what fork you have and what's the current spring length it's not possible to give an exact answer.
