Hey I have a bike and one of the seals is going bad. I looked up the price to fix it and it cost a lot to have someone else fix it for you. I was wondering if you guys have had any expericences with fixing fork seal and how hard it is and if you need any special tools. Thanks

what type of bike do you have and or what fork? Seal replacement is really pretty easy just mildly intimidating the first time

Do your self a favor and check to make sure that they are not just dirty. As in they have a piece of dirt or debris trapped in the seal. This is exactly what happened with me. I was all ready to replace seals and a friend showed how to clean the seal using a feeler gauge. Every time I had oil seeping out the seal after that I would just run the feeler gauge up there and BOOM. Fixed it.

Watch some videos on youtube.  They will walk you right through it.

I have a crf250r. So if you take a feeler gauge and run it up the seal it will clean it? I guess I will give it a try. I have looked at some videos on youtube but I wasn't sure if they were just making it look easy. I will watch a few more and give it a try it the cleaning it with a feeler gauge doesn't work.

These two will  give you all you need to know, it's real easy to do. I made a seal setter out of PVC pipe and just put tape over the sharp edges when re-installing the new seal you don't need to buy the setter or bullet.

I cleaned the seal today an it looked like it is going to work now. You guys saved me taking my fork apart for this time. If the seal does go bad I will know how to fix it myself. Thanks for the replies they really help out.
