You can also take Dremel tool and grind out the burrs at the ends of the header tube. You can take a couple milimeters off the inside of the pipe to open it up a bit. Theres a bunch of extra metal in there from when the pipe was made. I cleaned mine up. Not sure if it makes a difference or not, but every little bit helps I suppose.

Took mine off- no burrs on mine.

Hope this is not too green lol. What is IMHO? Thanks for all the posts. Im going to try to get to the lowering link and smog plug this weekend. After that i will maybe start looking for the header.

I ground down the welds and i didn't feel a difference, but thats not to say it isn't woth it. An engine that can flow better is a happy engine.

Interesting. It just looked like bad welds or poor casting. Good to know. Im planning on getting the XL600 header anyways.

I'm guessing it is, and he meant not cleaning them up was part of the plan. Not that they added material or something.

Not to hijack, but some one said carb. I hate CV lag, if that's what it is. Just seems like there is a delay at low RPM's when you want to get the front end up in a jiffy, especially on in the rare chance I'm on a trail.

What's a good carb choice? I hear OEM, aftermarket, but not sure.
