During the course of my job I put up road closed signs for the safety of my road crew and the general public.  We dig trenches up to 20 feet deep that contain people  working in uncomfortable and dangerous  conditions. Safety is of the upmost importance. Hopefully some idiot who thinks that the signs we put up are a joke will not run through and kill or maim a member of my crew.
I admit that we all smile when said idiot gets pulled over by a police officer near our worksite. The men claim blindness or ignorance, some of the women try the crying defense. This is right after they flip us off and stomp on the gas to show their contempt for working men and women who are trying to keep basic services online,(water, gas, electric, sewer)........By the way, in California traffic citations are doubled for violating the "cone zone".

So thanks to everyone for sounding like my mom. I know i did it willingly and it was completely obvious. But you cant mean to tell me you wouldnt be pissed too. And my time isnt worth much since i go to school full time. I have more time than money. I should have run away. That fat cop couldnt have caught up to me that fast and i couldve gone into the neighborhoods or the school. Just as i go by the second signs i see this big cop walk out from behind the water truck. I was too close to run i think. Video coming...

Sure, I'd be mad at myself for getting caught too... but then again I wouldn't have ignored the signs (that's just me). We all sound like your mom because I'm guessing you're not getting the responses you wanted. You wanted these folks to tell you how to get out of it, and instead, got a bunch of common sense. I think all you need to know is already here. You obviously know what you did and accept it. You can pay the ticket and/or do comm. service, do neither and go to court/jail, or maybe your best chance to "get out of it" would be to go to court and attempt a plea bargain (if that's a thing in Cali, it is here in Colo). Basically, "Yeah, I Effed up, never do it again, sorry" yadda, yadda, yadda.

Not trying to deliberately bust your balls, but you did ask for help. So you will get it, whether it's the help you wanted or not

I read this thread because I thought there would be a video.  I've done a lot of stupid stuff.  Don't be ashamed and share the video.  A lot of these guys talk about safety and being good citizens, something I want to do, but when we get on the bike sometimes we all loose our heads (no pun intended).

Sorry you're not getting the answers that you'd like.......I'm not going to believe for a second that you're the victim here. Ride as many closed roads that would like....just don't piss and moan when you get caught!

ok dad! the worst part of the responses that im getting is that people are talking like they never do wrong. who wouldnt be pissed they got caught? or are you that good of a citizen and you just love to pay for what you did "wrong"? might as well go to the police station and tell them about all the times you speed and give them some money to pay it back. Im not saying it wasnt wrong. and i passed like 5 signs. Im not saying i didnt do it or someone made me. ill even admit to it when i go to court. but i might be wearing some clothes that might make the judge look at me more favorably. Gotta do what i can. I rode right to the cop. probably the easiest ticket he has ever given. still playing with the video. Practicing with sony vegas. getting a little crazy with masking. Its not that great though. just getting a talking to and showing how obvious that the road was closed...

I personally think people are being a little hard on you.  I think pretty much everyone here has done something less than legal on their DRZ if they were honest with themselves.  For lots of the country this could be speeding, hopping a curb, parking your bike on the sidewalk, etc..  So let the one who has no guilt toss the first spark plug.

I would say though since you knew you broke the law to just deal with it and drive on.  "When you play with fire expect to get burned." is the saying right?

I will also say this to all the people who are talking crap about you riding on a "road close" market road.  There are lots, and lots of those these days that are not blocked off for safety sake but blocked due to the poor economy and the fact that they don't want to maintain them for the auto traffic.  I really see no problem with riding those as they are vacant and can be a great place to ride.

I used to do a lot of crazy crap on my DRZ when I was 20, and broke laws as for where I should not have been riding.  Now that I am a bit older with a wife and childern I do less, but I still enjoy going to places that you probably aren't suppose to.  I am respectful of those areas though and don't tear things up, but the gov has been slowly taking away all of our riding spots so what are we to do?  Just sit on our hands and do nothing?  People really need to take this country back as we have little riding freedom (or any freedom) these days compared to 20 years ago.

Enough said.  BTW, I am still waiting for the vid.

No one is saying they are perfect. I'm saying if you're going to do silly things on your bike, to the point of breaking the law, don't be surprised when you get caught.

Your mom didn't get to her age by being stupid. The older you get, the smarter she'll seem to you.

Let me tell you what you are doing -- not as your mom -- but as a former cop. When you run, you take a situation that  would likely be a charge you could plea bargain down to a small fine, a relative wrist slap, and turn it into what could be a felony for eluding. That'll get your butt led off in cuffs.

I would be pissed too...but pissed at myself for doing something foolish.

I hate traffic enforcement -- I think it is largely a waste of valuable officers' time and too often a ploy to raise revenue. I even hated it when I was assigned to do it.  That said -- running from the cops is just plain stupid. Listen to your mom.

Really? its come to name calling? You dont even know me...
anyway...

I didnt run. i didnt even attempt to. I know i did wrong but they could have given a warning. Im in backgrounds for the sheriffs dept right now. so i know not to run. I doubt ill get out of it so ill pay for it with my time. Theres always someone (or some people) who love to be mr perfect and pretend they've never done anything like that. And make comments about complaining. Wouldnt any problem that someone tells anyone else about be considered complaining?  I couldve just not said anything but i thought it was interesting and i'd want to hear about it too.  i spent way too much time on the video. I dont know vegas that well. now i do. hah. Im gonna mess with the video a little more and upload it in an hour or two...

Whatever? I sense a lack of maturity from your posts and to make it worse I've allowed myself to get sucked in....bottom line is you're looking for validation that what you did is ok, which you're not going to get from me. I'm sure most of us have bent or broken rules along the way....some we've gotten away with .... Others have been caught.... Most don't post up their actions for public scrutiny.

Maybe this thread should be moved to General Discussion which is we're you should have posted in the first place!

Yeah, Jaw! You posted this in the wrong forum, TT isn't one of those forums on which members do Big Bores, FCRs, MRDs, make their bikes loud and fast and post videos of themselves speeding and popping wheelies. What were you thinking?. . .

hahah. I know! jeez! soooorrrry! Video is rendering now. My identity is safe i think. And i posted here since i have a drz. Get sucked into what? you dont have to respond or read it and criticize me. Make fun of me. I can deal with that. I can even understand the lectures. But trying to make me feel like a jerk is pointless. Like i said. that cop probably heard me coming from a mile away and could've started on the ticket even before he saw me. I cant wait for what everyone says about the video. maybe i can claim blindness? I cant see obvious signs blocking off the whole street. 2 times!

I ride my YZ on illegal trails next to my house sometimes because it's close, flat, and a good mix of everything. Only bad part is you must cross roads to jump the trails. I had my DR and it wasn't a problem. Now having a dirt only bike it's an issue. There have been only one time where a cop talked to us about being on the trails. We played stupid and just rode off. There are signs everywhere that say "No Motorized Vehicles", but horses, bicycles, even snowmobiles can ride on them. Not bikes. I take the risk of riding them to have a little fun. If I get caught I just tell myself "O s#it. I got far and nothing has happened before. Guess it's my time" It's a gamble. You took the gamble on riding past the signs for a little fun and you lost. Just pay the fine.

I pushed "play" and it said that the video was "not available".  Oh well, maybe later.  I hope you didn't ruin the video with some crappy music like most people do.
