All are around $2000.
I need a bike thats highway/freeway rideable as I plan on just riding to where I ride, and transpo.
I know the 650 is gonna be the best for highway use,but I'm not sure about the weight.
How would the other bikes do on the highway/freeway.
I really dig the YZ250F cuz it has the supermoto setup done right, and comes w/ the dirt wheels/tires,plus much lighter than anything.
WR is cool, just dont like Yamaha, but if its a good fit it may be the way to go.
XR400,dunno rode my buddies,not 100% on it.Actually I've ridden all the bikes I'm asking about,but the YZ250F.
How would it do at highway speeds(the 250)?
I dont plan on going 100mph,but definetly need to be able to keep up w/ traffic comfortably and not burn up the motor.
On dirt,I'll just be trail riding.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Or just wait for a CRF450X,thats the bike I really want?

Not going to say the old buy what I have, but through experience with it I can honestly say a DRZ400S is probably another good option. (not sure about on the road but have heard countless people raving on about it. Look up TheGardenSnake on youtube, he rides a supermoto'ed version (just street tires). They have a DRZ400SM but the disk brake is larger and you might come into issues in the trail with clearance although will be excellent on the road.

A 250 eg the YZ250F wont be as good on the road as in the trails, if you are looking at a 250 though go for a Yamaha WR250R (I am getting this, again not biased but based on opinion, specs and test rides).

All in all, depending on how much you will ride and what you will ride eg 90% road and 10% dirt etc, but honestly a WR250R is a great option but sorry I'm not sure on pricing in America as I am Australian

GL!

Thanks!!!
Yeah I'd really like a CRF250X,but those rarely come up.
I know the WR is the way to go,no matter the size, because of the wide ratio tranny.
Have considered the DRZ,just figured weight and ergo's would be better on a 426/450 plus the added power.

I had planned on registering it OHV w/ a street tag.Cheaper, but originally I planned on 90% dirt maybe 10% freeway highway, but my situation has changed and need a bike for various appt.s.
And my riding buddy doesnt ride as much as I like too,and he's done for the summer. And thats just pit bikes w/ his 10yr old.
So I'm done waiting on his ass, took him 4yrs to finally get some pits for him and his boy.

Was even considering a metric cruiser/1100-1600cc,and just pitbike it when my buddy goes. But my riding is not going to revolve around anyone.
Not crazy about riding alone, but where I ride theres plenty of people,so if anything happens I wont be stuck in the middle of the desert dieing. Also theres a state MC park that has a couple tracks and many trails, riding courses/classes,definetly wanna check that out.But thats something my buddy wouldnt do,plus our pitbikes are outlaw(no tags) so we woulnt even be able to go to that park.
Thanks again for the input!

So would I burn up a CRF250x or WR250f on the highway?
