My 13 year-old is starting to get too tall for his 125L. So, I was searching for easy and cost effective ways to lift the bike.  I came across this article on eHow http://www.ehow.com/...125-taller.html

Seems like an easy enough way to get an extra inch or so in ride height but I wanted to see if anyone had done this before and if the approach was safe and sound?

Thansk!

sounds like they know what they are doing to me.  Could also do the YZ85 fork swap if he's getting heavy for the stock suspension. That raises the front and gives much better suspension.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but at 13 years old, a TTR125L is just too small.  Even with the extensive options of upgrades, there is nothing on the market that will make the TTR a viable bike for him in the long run.  If it were me (or my son), I would put any money I was thinking of spending on upgrades into a fund for a YZ125, 250F, or a decent big bike for the trails.  I was already adapting to a 125 two stroke at 13 and could not even imagine having the little TTR as my primary machine.

If a bigger bike is not an option though, I would definitely look into an 85 front end with a BBR swing arm and stiffer shock spring.

If you reroute the cables you can raise the bars quite a bit.  I put some home-made risers on mine and got taller bars and it moved the bars up by about 6 inches and forward about 3 inches.  Helps a lot.  Still not *quite* comfortable to stand up.  Helps the riding position a lot though.

Oh yeah...I'm 5'10", 200lbs and put in 72 miles on mine last saturday.  Totally stock except for BBR frame brace and raised bars.  Just saying...
