Wow...the Black Bear is sneaking up on me! I had to miss it last year and I cried a little so this year I am pretty pumped up...mostly for the snack bar at the first gas stop...but also for the epic riding. Is it just me or does it seem like the clubs are competing this year for the highest number of DNFs in an event? :-)

looking forward to a nice heavy beating and some good fun on Sunday. I haven't yet received my route sheet but I am sure it is on it's way! I guess I'll go ahead and scan it and post it once it arrives.

Your best bet is to hit one of the enduro schools that are offered a few times per year.  The MC that sponsors the Black Bear usually has the Little Bear mini-enduro/enduro school.  That will get you what you need.  If you don't have time for one of those prior to the event, get a roll chart holder and set your time piece to the key time.  Ride the best you can and don't worry about all the technical rules like three for free, hidden check points etc.  You'll be overwhelmed and won't have fun.  Just ride and learn and if you have a rider on your minute who is experienced, just try to stay with him.

it's been a few years since the little bear has been heald...to my knowlege the only enduro school is at the shleton valley beginner enduro which has been and gone now. the info found on www.icoracing.com is great as is the article listed above. I'll be there early on sunday so stop by my truck and i'll lend you some duct tape and talk you through the particulars! I'll either be in my truck (blue nissan titan, LOCKGUY on license plate) or in my chevy 1/2 ton van that says THE LOCK SHOP on the side.

I have the day off today, so I'll be doing a little bike prep.  New tire after last week in Packwood, and a muffler re-pack.
I can't wait for 80 miles of epic trails at Tahuya.  Looks like we will have some good weather
Anybody have a route sheet they can post?

Big props to CFMC for one wicked enduro today! I barely survived and racked up a horrendous score...but it was all worth it for those gummie bears at the first gas! Also a shout out to tall_ken...nice ride tiday...now i know why you are kicking my ass so bad in the series points!! :-)

would anyone here have GPX tracks of the race?  I liked a lot of the long course trails but I don't know Tahuya well enough to ever find them again.

having the tracks takes all the fun out of it. just go out and try to re-create it or better yet hook up with bill, he could probably take you on the whole course turn for turn.

I have to say Good Job to all the members of Cascade MC.  Another great event. The route worked well and the speeds would test you in sections but allow you to get back on your minute in others. Mileage was dead on for the whole course. Less water would have been nice but you can only do so much.
Thanks again to all who helped make it happen,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff!  A lot of hard work was put into this event.  It is nice to hear the thanks.  We tried to dry up the puddles but mother nature just wasn't helping out.  At least she took our request for the weather, overcast and around 60!
Btw it was great to see some new people out there trying out an enduro.  Even those with no time keeping equipment just riding seat of the pants or just to enjoy the trails.  Enduros are FUN!

Big Kudos to Dean and CFMC for putting on a great event.
Always look forward to the "coffee stop".
