If you have a 2008 690SMC I really need your help; need you to check your service manual and tell me how many total click adjustments your rebound and compresssion have. Then what the recommended number of settings are.
The reason: I have a 2008 KTM 690E but the rear shock is horrific offroad. I think the previous owner may have swapped it for an SMC shock. So I want to compare what the factory number of adjustments are to be sure. It seems my rear shock has alot less clicks available than what my manual says it should have.
Need someone who has a 690SMC.

Enduro here as well. What is yours set too?
I've found that the manual settings are brutally harsh. Mine was set with the 'Sport' settings of 10 clicks for fork and shock rebound and compression which was so stiff that it reduced the effectiveness of braking on pavement. The 'Standard' settings are more along the lines of what's needed for sporting road riding (on 17" wheels) and I'd expect further softening (more clicks out) would be needed for real off road

No longer needed. I bit the bullet and sent the shock out to Super Plush Suspension. Had them to a rebuild, revalve with new shock spring. He also had to tear into the rebound valve circuit and try to figure out why it was only 5 clicks before the service/revalve and then after he did all that he was still only getting 15 clicks. It should have 20. He found it was completely gunked up with dirt, grit and rust. Cleaned it up, lubed, greased and now have 20 clicks. I've not yet been able to try it out but was really impressed by SPS's service. The guy doing the work actually called me to tell me what he had done, was doing and ask me if I wanted him to dive further into the rebound valve. They know KTM's and do professional roadracing suspension valving. Excited to see how it works!
