Yes interesting article for sure...especially when they mention Mr. Honda hated 2-strokes and the development was done pretty much behind his back.
I have an 03 too(which was the last 2-stroke to win a championship:)) and I take the criticism with a grain of salt. Remember they're talking "out of the box", there's lots you can do to that motor to wake it up

Well MR. Honda was a douche and apparently didn't know shit. Apparently the guys who KNE and MADE the motors knew what was up, so it was all good

Yeah I finally gave up on the TMX and picked up the PWK airstryker from JD Jetting. Installed it yesterday and test rode it up and down the street and man let me tell ya what a difference! #smiling ear to ear

That straight flat slide TMX that came on the '01-03 isn't the best. I had a Husky WR250 with that same carb, couldn't change it fast enough. It's almost like that carb was used to make it run poorly...

I also just slapped one bone stock and brand new off a 00 cr250 from motosport on my 98 cr250r and I just had no idea how much better it really would be. Second to none.
PWK = most highly underestimated mod.

The 05-07 is also among the best, in spite of the engine issues. ( Which can easily be fixed with a few mods )
Plenty of guys on here who know how to get the most out of the last-GEN CR's.
Had Honda continued with the CR250R, I am sure they would have been able to improve the engine.
Times changed, and along came the 450 4-strokes. Honda is struggling with their 450 thumper queen.
Kawasaki has the best 450 engine. Yamaha has the best 450 suspension. The Honda 450 has good ergos and handling at least.
The new Honda 450's have the 4-spring clutch, which is a huge step backwards.
Good thing the engine isn't more powerful, or that clutch would die even sooner!
Nobody makes the "perfect" bike. The only "perfect" bike might be a Pro Circuit team works bike. But who wants to spend that kind
of money on a bike?
2-strokes will never die, and people like us will keep the legacy alive. What the AMA does won't affect us. It would be cool to see
our 2-strokes make a major comeback one day. Yamaha still makes the YZ250, and that bike is actually really good.
Out of all the bikes.... I would like to see Honda do a production run of a NEW CR500R with an aluminum frame.
THAT would be my wish.
Service Honda gets $12,000 for theirs, which is really way too much for any dirt bike.

I think the cat is out of the bag now.
Most of us who have been hanging around these forums for awhile, already made the switch!
It's the hot ticket.
Toss that clunky TMX and grab a PWK!

Yes you're right. Spend any amount of time on this forum and you'll come across a PWK review, but for good reason.

I couldn't agree more. I think now that the "new toy" (4t's) have come out and had some years to settle in, the 2 stroke is becoming more popular than ever. Just simple supply and demand. What could be a better perspective to see how great a 2 stroke is, than owning a 4t for a little while and footing that bill. You could literally go across the board from cost, maintenance, all the way to fun factor, and the 2t is winning every major point...I dunno though, obviously those new bikes have a lot to offer and some new technology, but if somehow the sport was limited to just them, I would have to quit.
Anyway, gotta pass out to be up in 6 hours to go hit the track for memorial day!!! My first track day in almost a month and since doing a ton of new mods. Can't wait is understatement.
