the book calls for a 55 or 52 pilot jet it previously had a 65 pilot that i swaped to 50 then 45 its quit smoking so mutch and responds to throtle quick but still no idle. air screw is at 1&1/2 out  nedle is in 3rd clip pos and twisting the choke  does nuthing.the air cleaner is clean the carbs been cleaned 1368 needle and the pipe is a procircut workes pipe and the carb is a kehin.reeds looked great so far i have about 20 minites runing time on it and its a compilation of parts to make this motor so if any wise guys have any smart ideas go ahead i,d like to here them i suspect an air leak someplace. no wet spot around the stator yet and no i havent preshure tested the motor yet but i might throw in an other carb .14/49 gearing and this bike wheelies easily across the yard but just wont idle

Well, if turning the choke knob doesn't work, then it is most likely broken.  I have heard the PWK is a good mod over the PJ carb as well.

kc i wish all my bikes had pwk carbs--- once i get this bike running right i,ll sell it and improve the rest of the herd.i have a pwk39.5 on a 500 and want to try a 41mm, i,ll try blowing out the pilot pasage again then maybe swap the carb if that dont work

Good luck...If you do make the switch, let me know how it works.  I have a 96 that I am considering switching to the PWK some time in the not so near future.  PJ is still working good at this time.
