Ok, so I bought this ninja 250 a few days ago as a non runner. I've gotten it to run now, but I have one more problem. IT WON'T SHIFT!!! It shifts down into 1st but won't go up into 2nd or 3rd ect.. it's either in N or 1st. I need help on this one. any idea's why it wouldn't be shifting? my clutch adjuster is broken right now and the gears are fully engaged when I'm trying to shift it. could it be that the clutch has to be fully disengaged to shift? the bike sat in storage for about 9 years or so with no oil in it if that means anything. thanks for any help.
oh and I do know the gear patern and it isn't down for all gears if you were about to say that
Thanks again!

With the bike parked on the centerstand, engine not running,
Can you shift the bike through the gears by rotating the rear wheel manually a little with each gear shift?

nope, I can't shift up at all. it feels like I can't rotate the shaft enough to click into gear. I might take out my clutch and see what's up. I'm really not sure what's wrong

Bent shift forks?
Dry Clutch pack? Soak em in oil in a bag over night to get them lubed back up.
