Bike Rack on Trailer

I just bought a new to me 2005 KZ Frontier 2405. It's a 25' trailer with a hard slide queen size bed that slides out of the back. It's designed not to need any additional supports when opened. Due to large rails that slide into the frame of the trailer. The rear slide frame appears to be very beefy and strong (painted black in the pic.) and the back support frame (painted white in the pic.) are made of 2" square tubing.

I'm trying to decide if the slide frame is strong enough to support a rack for my Beta 525RS as well as if it would make the trailers tongue weight too light. If it makes a differance I did plan on carrying an extra 30 gal. of water in the front to offset the weight on the back.

Another option would be to mount a motorcyle rack on the front tongue above the battery. However, that would shorten my turning radius.

Any thoughts or ideas would be great or if you have pictures of any mods. you've done like this would be better.

And to answer the question, yes I have thought of just putting my bike in the back of my truck but, I'm leaving that as a last resort. I'd reall like to know if I can safely make it work mounted to either the front or back of the trailer.

Thanks

We have discussed this in several threads.

Nice trailer BTW.

I had to put mine in front due to too much tail whip even though I added weight up front.
I would move the batteries and run it up front. (if you have a long enough tongue- mine is over 3 ft)
I keep mine tight to the coach box and bolt a support bar to the triple clamps and let the bike "float"- no tie downs.
I have a Bike Shoe up front to hold the bike in and forward and the bar to hold the ft to back stability.
Mine works great. I offset the weight to the front with a back rack (generator, compressor, cooler).

Your weights are obviously different than mine and the double axle makes a difference with the tail whip. Yours might work on the back.
Mine was trial and error.
Weld 2 receivers on the back and try it.
Worst thing is you move it to to the front if it does not work.

I remember you posting those pics. before but, wasn't able to find them when searching. Thanks for postiing again.
I will be picking up the trailer tomorrow. I'll take a look and see what my best option is. Having double axles and 17 feet in front of the rear axle (on a 25' trailer) might be enough to justify mounting the rack in back first.
