Question on tires

So I am rather new to the whole dirt thing and had a question before I buy some new tires. What, if any, is the advantage/disadvantage of having a larger sidewall? I am looking at a rear 110/80 or 110/90 and a front 100/80 or 100/90. I ride strictly MX....hence posting this in the MX section. The bike is a YZ250.

I have also been looking at this topic recently and basically (according to Dunlop ) the difference in the sidewall for the sizes you posted is more related to rim size. The 110/90 is for a wider rim (2.15, ie. for the 450f ) In other tires for the same rim size the sidewall size vary slightly to keep the same aspect ratio of the section for a wider tire.

Go with the 110/80 on the rear and 100/80 on the front. The 90 on the front seems to float a bit too much, and the 80 bites better. The 110/80 on the rear has a wider footprint due to the 110/90 being pinched more on the rear.

i race MX and trails and have different tires for each usually. My MX tires are are 110-90-19 for the rear and 100-80-21. The thicker tires obviously gives you better grip in wide ruts and your rear tire wont bounce off the walls going through the rut. I run stock size front tire. Some people say the wider tire makes your bike bog down a little bit but ive ran this size tire on all my bikes for 5 years and i have never experienced this. maybe they ride to low in whichever gear they are in. It also lets you ride around corners with no ruts faster without the back tires slipping out.

You should stick with standard size, 110/90-19 rear and 80/100-21 front.
120/80-19 and 90/100-21 are the "450" tires, although hardly anyone that I know uses them, even on 450s.
100/90-19 is for 125s/250Fs.
110/80-19 is slightly wider than the 100, this is for 250F. Looks way narrower than a 110/90-19, I was shipped one by mistake once and sent it right back.

I am sorry, my information is for 250F , Brian is correct the Stock is 110/90 on the 2T Oops, thanks for not yelling at me !
