What would be better to start/learn racing, Jr. Enduro or hare scrambles? I think jr enduro would be good cause i could race people my age but would it be better to race hare scrambles instead because arent they typically easier? BTW im 16 so i couldnt race real enduros because they need a street plate and ive been riding for 3 years and ride a KDX 200 and im in good shape.

HS isi usually alot faster, more chance of going down hard.  Enduros the terrain just beats you up.  Most events have classes for everyone so just go out and ride one.

I would vote to go Enduro all the way.  I do both, but always favor Enduros.  Ultimately I like to ride, and enduros give you WAY more seat time for the money and you get to ride with your friends all day.

This! Plus, the speeds are lower, so it won't hurt when you fall down. Enduro is a great way to learn to ride off road. You never know what you will have to deal with.

I don't think it makes much difference.  Sure, harescramble speeds tend to be higher, but you shouldn't be riding over your head anyway!  In your first race of any kind, your emphasis should be on finishing with the bike and yourself intact.  Just get out there and ride--that's the only way to find your pace and comfort zone.  If you do decide to do a harescramble, make sure you "hold your line" and be predictable when the fast guys start lapping you later in the race.  You want to pull to the side in a predictable manner in a safe area--don't stop--just move over enough to let the fast guys by.  Over the years I've worked my way up to A level, and some of the scariest moments have been when a newbie does something squirrelly when he realizes someone is coming up fast from behind.  Also, don't be one of those guys that won't let anybody by!  If somebody is gradually gaining on you--race 'em for sure!  But if somebody comes up on you so fast that you think your bike has stopped, let them by so they can race the guys at their level.  Otherwise you're likely to end up being a speed bump once they get pissed.
