Ok need some help. I picked up a clean 1982 xl 500 got it road ready. Now that i have put a few miles on it i have got a miss in the motor. I have cleaned the carb adjusted the valves. The miss seems to happen half throttle and above it does it cold or hot and not all of the time. Any Ideas

Plug, plug cap, primary wire to plug cap, coil.
Or if you are unlucky, the cdi or stator.

I put new plug in it with correct gap.

Some of these older honda's had a resister in the cap that goes on the spark plug. If You've eliminated everything else, the trick is to take the resiter out and replace with a small spring. Sounds like main jet or float level they can be picky about that.

Well got the miss fixed put new coil on and when i was under the tank i found some bare wires, Thanks for all the help.
