Shoot this is my first post on here but its a good topic.
I have been out of the dirt bikes for about 15 years and I am getting ready to purchace another one. So I would like opinions or recomendations on boots also.
I will be doing trail riding and some moderate motocross racing. Lets see I wear a size 10 in shoes so how close does the boot size run to your shoe size you recomend.

Thanks in advance!

The top two would be gearne sg 12's and alpinestars tech 10's. have not worn the tech 10's but i hear they are the bees knees. very comfortable, no break in, excellent protection. but the soles wear out very fast. i have sg 12's and they are the best boots ive had. i had the alpinestar vectors, alpinestar tech 6's, and before that i was in kid sizes. and they were good but fit like work boots. the sg12's have a gel that wraps around your ankle, they, without a doubt, are more comfortable than my running/gym shoes. i just crashed last week and sprained both my ankles, i believe if i was wearing anything other than the sg12's or tech 10's my ankles would be broke and have torn a something.

I have exactly the opposite opinion of the Tech3. Wore them four times and sold them. They had the worst buckles I've ever laid hand on. Bought a pair of Gaerne G-Reacts and won't go back to Alpinestars. Next pair will be a pair of the high end Gaernes. On a side note,I had a pair of Alpinestars in the late 90's that I really liked until the sole fell off sometime in the 2000's. Seems like they used to be better boots back then.

Gaerne SG12's for wide feet. SIDI Crossfire SRS for narrow feet. They are not cheap but they are awesome boots.

spend as much money as you have available on boots, you get what you pay for. They are one of the most important pieces of gear second only to helmets. Hinged as long as you don't see any huge cases in your future.

i never liked my gaerne gx1's. they were way to bulky especally in the toe box area. never had any kind of feel for the pegs/shifter in them either.
got some fox instincts and couldnt be happier. deadly bike/controls feel and awesome feedback through the pegs. soles r a lil soft like the tech 10's but there amazingly compact. no bulk AT ALL!
just my opinion
flame away

I love my TCX Pros. My current pair is six years old (back when they were still called Oxtar) and the soles are still good and they're still really comfortable. The way the ankle hinge is designed allows them to be really narrow through the ankle, which I love. I hate the wide ankles of normal hinged boots. They are also extremely light but still offer great protection. I have heard a lot of people say they are better boots than tech 8's, which doesn't surprise me.

If this pair ever needs replaced I will definitely be getting some TCX Pro 2's.

Googled these after I read your post. The Pro 2's are really nice looking boots. Pretty decent price for them too. If I were shopping for new boots I would definately research them and try a pair on.

Your post reminded me of another thing I like about my boots. The way they look. I guess I'm so used to seeing them I take it for granted now.
