I finally have the perfect piece of property, and I have started building my track. I just don't have the perfect neighbor! I have a Motoworks slip-on and I know it's loud...I actually feel bad that it is so loud. So, today I get a visit from the neighbor just saying that it is way too loud! This sucked the wind outta my sails because I have been like a lil kid at Christmas these last 2 weeks! I don't wanna lose too much power but I am willing to quiet it down. Anybody know about the Motoworks quiet insert? How's the FMF Q? Should I go back to stock exhaust and do other things to it to make up for the loss of power? Any ideas would be appreciated...I'm not trying to lose my dream finally coming true over a loud exhaust. Thanks

Yeah man, we are all going to lose out if we don't start quieting our machines.
Trails get shut down, gates put up. Better that nobody know you are there.
Like you are finding out, better to act before you are told or it may be too late.
It was a good neighbor to politely tell you. Other's would just call the cops.

Noisy just sounds powerful. The Q or new packing or even back to the stock muffler (you still have it right?) is better than being shut down. I tried inserts in the tip but they really didn't quiet it much. Aiming the tip to the ground helps. 2 Strokes are cool enough to do it with a rubber hose and clamp.

I was thinkin at first to not spend a lot of money I would go with the Motoworks quiet insert and repack the exhaust to see how that works. Stock exhaust will be last resort...

The q fmf will quiet it down best.  If it is a 450 you won't notice the sound difference.  I have it on 09 crf450, and makes the bike ridable in a place where I would get kicked out of for sound before.  No other pipe will meake enoug of a difference.  But with a neighbor there might be no exhaust quiet enough?  A 2stroke might be your best and most extreme option.  That is really more of a foolproof option.  4 strks are loud.  But a q4 fmf for sure will make a huge difference.  I don't think any other pipe will from what I've read.

I meant you won't notice the power difference not "sound difference."  It will surely be quieter I am sure.

If you made an investment to buy a piece of property to ride on you had better make sure you keep your neighbors off your back. The town will go out of their way to make things miserable for you. If there is no noise ordinance they will create one. It happens here all the time, Your property isn't yours anymore if you intend to do anything louder than mowing the lawn. Do your best to quiet that bike down before all you can do IS mow the lawn.  Where you located? We are in the Albany area. PM me if you want to keep your location a secret. Good luck!
