Although... nobody would be shocked if he won.

Besides the 10 percent on either side of the JS7 opinion pool we all know he can win.

The question really is, how many?
Dominate, small chance but still a viable
chance.  Shape the top five out come seems
to be the best chance but he really might win a handful.

Very refreshing read...  Good to hear James'/Bubba's side.  Pretty much dispelled all of the rumors/opinions/hear say going on in the moto world and here on TS PR forum.

Seems pretty clear to me he still loves the sport and wants to race.

Need to relax TD.  There are many things worth losing sleep over, I'm not sure a moto is one.

James: They said, "You know we can't pay you, no bonuses or anything like that?' I told them, "I don't care. I love racing motorcycles, I just left making a lot of money, I just want to race."

Will he really make no money this year, even if he wins?

He's still going to make more than 99% of the field just off of his endorsements/sponsorships alone. He just isnt getting paid by the team. One MX season will not make or break his bank account. He probably wont even notice the money isnt there.

Point is, the guy is getting paid! Whether its by the team or someone else!

I am genuinely impressed, especially by the fact that he is riding for free for the outdoors this year.  I suspect his conditioning may not be where it needs to but he also is missing a lot of competition.  I think he and Dungey will trade victories once James get's back up to speed.

He definitely scored some points with me in that interview.  I can't wait for Saturday.

Point taken and understood... and my point is he is still getting paid. Pretty sure I stated that he is not getting paid by the team  . There has been a little misconception floating around that he is making 0 dollars throughout the outdoor season. All you did was confirm what I just posted

so your wiping away the not getting paid thing cuase he is getting sponsor bucks?  Would he not get that stuff sitting on the couch? And you dont think that they get paid much by teams huh?  His bank account would deff miss the $$$ zuki is paying him to ride!  At his level its close to million or more. He wouldnt feel that?   So reed isnt doing it on his own and we should start saying that?  He isnt getting paid by those people to ride outside.. He gets that anyways!  He lines up at hangtown he makes no more(unless he wins) he dont show up.. He makes the same... Thats what that statement is about... Not he is making 0 all season... Its he is making 0 more for doing it!

I must just not be feeling it......I went with the ya we said the same thing,.... kinda, response.

It is funny that when Reed went out on his "own" (we all know he was getting help from various places) people applauded him.  When JS does it they make it sound like it's no big deal because he is already making millions.  Reed said years ago that he makes more off of investments than he does racing.

Yep...   Suzuki got the deal of the century here.   they get James and it does not affect their budget. They could maximize their investment by helping James to some respectable finishes.   He doesn't need to win, he just needs to do a lot better and it will say a lot for the Suzuki.   Lets keep an eye out for the new suzuki commercials

I personally am not terribly worried about his conditioning.  Assuming he's not where he needs to be... he will get there soon enough.  He's a pro and has been there many, many times before.  He knows what's required and he just has to knock the 4 year old rust off.   I will give him three weeks and it won't be an issue.

So... is it safe to say that the racers who don't do it for the money get some extra "respect" from the fans?   then we should be luvin a lot of those lites guys that are at the end of the gate.  They are lucky to get lunch.

Going back to the original thread, I was impressed with how James answered the questions about JGR and the Yamaha (and I'm not a JS7 fan).  He didn't fully bash the bike, he just said it wasn't for him; I can buy that.  I bet if we opened a poll about which is the best 450, we would get 50 different answers; it's goes back to riding style, personal preference.  I don't think the new YZ450 is bad, it just doesn't seem to fit those that ride over the front wheel.  The GNCC guys are killing it on them, so apparently, they're good for offroad.  Anyway, it will be nice to see JS7 line up for MX; like him, hate him, or don't care, he will bring some excitement to the races.

It's not the moto, it's the man crush. Sounds like my teenage daughter...Oh damn, TD's going to be pissed at me again! Just playing TD!

I gotta say I'm pretty excited about the outdoors finally getting here. I enjoy it way more than SX, and even with a few players out it should be good. I just have to wait until all the big JS news plays out of the announcing and they focus on the racing.

Funny you should mention the GNCC guys on the yz450.  Yes... they are doing well on that bike but for offroad, you aren't over the front wheel all the time and the guys are bigger. Aren't many of the guys switching to the new wr450 now?

Funny thing is... before I got my KTM 450 for racing, I seriously considered that yz450f for desert racing. The fact that James and the new YZ don't get along doesn't change my opinion of the bike.  The fact that James looks more comfortable on the Suzuki doesn't change my opinion of that bike either.   At my level, I could be racing any color bike... or even just loading my bike on to the trailer...  I'm going to be on the ground!

After seeing all the sensible posts I hope you realize that it likely means folks are reasonable and the shit he received in the past from us was what he deserved at the time. People will give credit where credit is due and at the time James got what he deserved just like he is now. For your sake we better hope he can hold it together. I think his head is in the right place lets just hope he can deal with the agony of defeat this summer and keep his head in the game.

I think that James deserved a some criticism for the way he rode... but a lot of stuff coming from some people was way out of line.   Some of it still is out of line.   A lot of it is out of line, especially when it spills over to discussions regarding his family and stuff like that.

But he deserves "reasonable" criticism for his riding the past two years.
