Exactly... Im waiting to see who the first will be to blame the lapped traffic at the end of the moto on RD's finish. Im gonna jump all over that argument since he had the lead on the first lap, let Alessi pass him back, followed JS every lap with 24 mins +2 laps remaining in the moto and never/ couldnt make the pass. Good for Stewie!

F'N lapped riders. When the blue flag comes out you move over.....Period

If they would have done what the AMA tells them RD would have hunted that punk down and won by 10 seconds and taken the overall

Is that what you are looking for

......I said "as good IF not better than the GOAT" he beat the goat straight up several times. I would like to see them race in 2008 when james was in his prime.

James seems honest.   Here are things in his words.

surely the haters will jump on to say something crazy.

Then the childish bickering and name calling will start.   Lets hope there's at least several good posts before it all goes down hill...

Wow I just read this now... after the race. Interesting read. jeez he hasn't even ridden the bike that much and damn he's flyin!!!!!  whoooa    fastest in practice and 2 moto wins with the second moto in a rutted up track and him riding faster!! Come on dungey and short ..ride faster so it isn't a boring JS blowout season.

We know what you said and I stand by what I said but again... James came into his prime because there was no more GOAT to race against. Im one of the biggest JS fans in this forum next to TDosh lol, but he was never better than the GOAT. Beating him in a few races doesnt mean squat in terms of championships which he NEVER won against the GOAT. It would have been interesting in 2008 if RC would have kept racing, he was no where near past his prime IMO. No one will deny that James is one of the fastest ever to ride a MX bike at several points in his career.

Nobody was better than the "GOAT", who just happened to get on top in supercross when McGrath got older.  That's the way it goes. Certain riders become the best for a few years and then there's someone else.  Ricky had about 5, which was longer than most, something difficult to duplicate.   Part of that I attribute to his health.  He showed up to race and didn't really have quite as many nagging injuries as we seem to have today.

James and RC will both be known as legends in the sport, as will Chad Reed.

But if you look at the final statistics of their careers, then obviously, RC was better...  better than anyone...

Does any of this really matter though, James just won two moto's.   Nothing more.  That may not be cause to start looking back in history...

I agree 100% there are plenty of current riders that will go down as legends, JS, RC, CR, RV is on his way, and even KW will likely be one of those names in most peoples eyes based on what he has done for the sport. In a few years when the lites guys are all on the big bikes and in their prime a few of them will be the new group of soon to be legends. The point I was trying to make is you cant really compare riders from two different era's. Sure RC and JS raced each other but by the time JS was in his prime RC was ready to retire. So  the only thing left to do is look back at the record books. No denying anything you just said! IDK if James could have beat RC in his prime but based on what I saw when they were both around and the best in the world the answer would be no.

I agree with everything but one point

Ricky won every outdoor title he contested which spanned 10 years. He had three 125 championships and seven 250/450 championships

Then his health is even more impressive than I thought...     He had some pretty spectacular crashes that he got up and walked away from.
