I am thinking about picking up a cr250. my first mx bike was a cr125 and then i sold it and got a crf250r. i liked the bike at first but now i feel i have become another lazy 4 stroke rider. i race mx and i want to go back to a 2 stroke. i am looking at 03+ cr250's. are these good bikes?

Yes, they're good bikes....very good bikes. Solid, reliable, easy to work on, lots of fun to ride.
They're so light compared to 4s, you can ride them all day long and not feel like you've been whipped.
Only down side, if there is one, is they're thirsty when you're riding them on the pipe.

what are your opinions on the electric powervalve? i think its kinda cool. looks easy enough to adjust if needed.

I like the electronic powervalve. Makes you a faster rider. Less wheel spin.

I'm having a hard time with making the final decision. I want to go back to a 2 stroke, but i dont know if i will be able to handle the power. I have only ridden lites bikes but i dont really want to go back to a 125. Is it relatively easy to get used to the power of a 250 2t?

Yes, but you only have to use as much power as you are comfortable using. A 125 is definitely easier to ride because its power requires less respect, but a 250 is easy enough to adjust to. And depending how big you are makes a difference also. If you are 140lbs it will feel more like a cannon than if you are 240lbs.

I have a 2011 CRF250 with a 270cc big bore kit, Moto Tassinari AIR4ORCE intake, Dr. D pipe, PC shock linkage, and Factory Connection suspension. Given the choice, it stays in the van and I ride my old 2 stroke. While the CRF is much faster and handles better than it did stock, it simply isn't in the same ballpark as the CR. The CR will destroy it in terms of sheer acceleration and handles better as well - and is much more fun to ride. On really tight, hardpack motocross tracks, the CRF works a little better, but the CR rules everywhere else. The game changer was a 10oz flywheel weight on the CR - it made the bike more controllable and easier to ride. To be fair, I'm probably too heavy (190lbs) for the CRF, but 450s feel like bloated whales to me and I don't need all that power anyway.

I have a very nice crf250r for sale, new topend, bridgestones, drivetrain, promotion suspension. Its for sale cause the 2stroke is more fun and cheaper to maintain.
