No Aluminum Tank on JS7's RMZ?

I always loved the factory look of the aluminum tank on the RMZ,
but I noticed JS7's bike has a funky black tank. I'm curious as to
what tank he is running. I'm assuming that little stock tank just isn't
big enough to hold enough fuel to make it through 30 minutes plus
2 (i.e. Dungey- Freestone).

It looks like it's carbon fiber and bigger than stock.  The larger capacity makes sense, and it's possible that the carbon fiber will transfer less heat to the fuel, which should help to prevent the problem that Dungey had last year.

Check it out:

Even the RMZ's in the MX1 series are using Carbon Fiber tanks.  So I would expect to see a different design in 2013 on the production bikes.

I wish it was because they were going to run a carb on Stewarts bike - more HP, less weight.

hey, I can dream

The stock tank was big enough for Dungey last year. What killed him was the heat and the metal tank.

I wish he many successes on road to champion this year. High five!

lol... If he can keep it on two wheels I think he has a good shot. Suzuki has
their bikes dialed and they are proven. At least JS7 can't blame the bike
if he doesn't win. Carmichael, Reed, and Dungey did pretty good on the
yellow steed.

why dont they put a little hatch reservoir in the tank and put a piece of dry ice in there, surely that would keep the fuel cool for the duration of the moto

now that is just funny, i'm sorry

if you're referring to it not being big enough because more gas would take more kilojoules to achieve boiling point, you are correct.

But an non heat conducting tank would save weight over that option.

dry ice? AMA would never allow it

why don't they make the tanks 2 piece with the fuel pump attaching to the smallest piece of aluminum possible, then that piece of aluminum attach to plastic?  come to think of it thats how my KX450f is

ok no dry ice, maybe a little copper coil in the tank that air would flow through via ram induction or syphen feed, just spit ballin here i dont see why its a problem, too easy to remedy

Yeah I noticed that when Fuel was playing highlights of last year. I guess Suzuki learned from their mistake.
