So I'm in southern Alberta visiting my parents, 20 min north west of Calgary. I decided to bring my bike (03 cr250), I was kinda worried about jetting a little bit, its jetted for pipe and silencer at 900ft. So me and my bro went for a ride today it runs fine no issues, just doesn't idle for very long if at all. Starts fine, runs fine, no bogging at all. Runs fine just feels a little weaker. My question is it worth screwing with the jetting at all for maybe 3-4 rides?? It running fine, I don't see any danger in running it...?? Worst gonna happens foul a plug right??

Ps forgot to mention cochrane AB is at about 4000 ft elevation

It will run richer at higher elevation so you are safe, I would set the a/s and leave it alone if its running good

considering how much difference 3k makes, id be rejetting. i rejet week to week. one weekend at the desert at sea level, jet it. next weekend at the track at 3k, rejet. next weekend in the trails at 4-5k, rejet. the weekafter, same trails, but different temps, rejet. we're talking day trips here.

jetting is easy.

i saw a post last week, where someone didnt want to buy a new expansion chamber because he was afraid it was gonna affect his jetting. i couldnt believe it.

anyways, i cant understand why you wouldnt rejet.

Cuz it's running fine...no bog...from top to
Bottom. Thanks for for your input tho, I know I should but jetting is pretty damn touchy. I'm only goin on a few rides...it won't be in the mountains again. Just gonna leave it I think, carry an extra plug with me.

regardless, a bog would be a lean condition, not rich. if you hardly notice a difference in running characteristics with a 3k ft elevation change then youre proably too rich already.

a change in 3k would result in at least 2 mains leaner and 1 clip position. a pretty decent difference.

if you feel like it runs fine, why even ask? leave it be. 3k makes a significant enough difference for me to warrant changing brass. to each their own.

Off topic:  If you are riding on public lands, watch out this weekend.  Conservation officers will be swarming all over, checking for registration, insurance, and lights.  McLean will be a gong show, Waiparous and areas north would be a better idea.

Look man, I was pretty much asking if it's gonna blow up. Which I think it wasn't, just lookin for other opinions...I know how to jet stuff buddy. I know how to read a spark plug. I don't have any of that shit out here with me, jet kit is 2500 kms away. Don't feel like buying another one, just asking if I could get away with leavin it alone for a couple rides. Go be pissy on someone else's thread. And for your information, my jetting is spot on..its not to rich, it's perfect back home....just never rode in the mountains before at this high of elevation.

And you can get a bog from being to rich too.

We are planning on hitting up waiparous next Monday or Tuesday. Probly Tuesday, for that reason too many people. Any other good areas you know close to here??

You don't need a jet kit to rejet.  Move the needle clip one position leaner, you will be in the mid range most of the time trail riding anyway.  May save you a fouled plug.

According to the chart I need to change a main, and go up a clip dude. I am in the mountains, steep ass huuuge hills man. Pretty much wide open. Doesn't matter. It running fine, just wanted to know if it's gonna do damage. It's not...carry a plug.

Pretty much along the forestry trunk road you will find tons of places to ride.  Problem is, the area is so huge that you need someone local to show you the hidden gems.  I liked Burnt Timber near Sundre, http://albertaparks....rnt-timber.aspx but the single track trails are hidden and gnarly.  For quad trails, you can go on forever it seems.
I ride at McLean most of the time, mostly due to convenience.

Watch out for muskeg (grassy lowlands), and never trust a puddle (especially this time of year)... can't tell you how many times I've nosed into a 3' puddle that looked inches deep

Okay right on man! Lookin forward to goin soon!! Probly gonna hit up waip. Maybe Maclean if we have time, sounds like a good spot. And ya my dad knows some good prime spots, and we are pretty good at scouting spots out. We grew up way northern ontario, about 6 hours east of Winnipeg. We know aaaalllll about muskeg bud!! Ahah I ive been workin in fort McMurray for along time now, been ridin up there too. You wanna talk about muskeg? Lol that's all there is up there...not very good for riding, mostly quads...you need a winch to go alone LOL. Anyways maybe I'll snap some photos throw them up of my lonely two stroke when we go ridin!!
